Persistent Fog In Lahore, Pakistan Disrupts Traffic On Motorways.

(CTN News) – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted predominantly cold and dry Fog weather for Lahore and most areas of Pakistan over the next 48 hours.

Based on the synoptic situation, a shallow westerly wave is impacting the northern regions of Pakistan.

Under these circumstances, Lahore and most parts of the country can expect mainly cold and dry weather from Sunday night onwards.

However, on Sunday night, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir may experience cloudy weather accompanied by light rain and snowfall in the mountainous areas.

During morning and night hours, fog/smog is anticipated in the plain regions of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh.

Furthermore, dense fog/smog is expected in Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Lahore, Gujranwala, Narowal, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khanewal, Multan, Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Jhelum, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, and surrounding areas during morning and night hours.

In the Pothohar region, there is a possibility of frost occurring at a few locations during the morning hours.

Motorways and National Highways Fog Update

Portions of Motorways (Peshawar-Swabi, Swabi-Islamabad, Pindi Bhattian-Lahore, Kallar Kahar-Pindi Bhattian, Lahore-Abdul Hakim, Sialkot-Lahore, Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad, Faisalabad-Multan, and Multan-Sukkur) may experience closures due to moderate to dense smog/fog during late night to early morning hours.

Additionally, reduced visibility will disrupt vehicular movement on the National Highway.

On Monday, the minimum temperature in Lahore is predicted to vary from 07 to 09 degrees Celsius, while on Tuesday it is anticipated to range between 06 and 08 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, most parts of the country experienced cold and dry weather in the past 24 hours.

However, rain occurred in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab, Kashmir, and Kalat, with light snowfall in Murree.

Leh remained the coldest place in the country, with temperatures dropping 06 C below freezing.

In Lahore, the minimum temperature was recorded at 08 C.

The relative humidity in the evening was measured at 66 percent.
