The couple, identified as Wannipa Phongdee and Anon Thipphawan, were frantically packing up their fishing equipment to escape a sudden, heavy rainstorm when the fatal bolt struck them. The incident serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the unpredictable and deadly nature of sudden severe weather.
The young couple, both residents of the nearby Sawang Arom District, had traveled to the Kaem Ling water retention area to enjoy a quiet afternoon of fishing. Boonrit Kongdee, the older brother of the victim, first learned about the tragedy through a local news page on Facebook.
