More Music Biopics On The Way

The past few years have seen the release of some incredible biopics for those most interested in the stories of their favourite stars – from the brilliant portrayal of Freddie Mercury by Rami Malek in Bohemian Rapsody to the more R Rated look at Elton John portrayed by Taron Egerton in Rocket Man, supported so much by Elton himself that Taron would appear in a number of live performances showing just how good he was able to perform as the role – there are others that have started to focus on other big figures too and offer fans a little something extra with famous gamblers and these promo codes for online casino in Canada, sports stars and the impact they’ve had throughout the year, and even looks at celebrity performances in TV and what these have meant – but music biopics tend to be the biggest. Which future music biopics may be on the horizon in the coming years, once again propelling some classic hits into the charts?

Elvis is on the way – Slated for release in the middle of 2022, Austin Butler will be starring as the king of rock and roll – the movie is set to cover his life from a broken rise to fame, an aspiring singer, and eventual worldwide fame. With Tom Hanks also starring in the movie as the manager that held a complicated relationship – given the success of recent movies, if done well this will be a big one and getting it right will only lead to further big biopic movies in the future too.

Bob Dylan could get his own movie too – Off the back of some incredible performances in The King and Dune, Timothee Chalamet has been slated to play Dylan in a yet-to-be-named title. Taking place in 1965 and covering the transition from folk to rock and roll, it will be another great watch for Dylan fans. It was confirmed that production would remain temporarily on hold due to the pandemic, but as things look to be heading back in the right direction once again, this delay may be soon coming to an end and resumption of the schedule could see a Bob Dylan movie in late 2022 or early 2023.

The King of Pop will get a biopic too It’ll come as no surprise that Michael Jackson would receive the Hollywood treatment, but rights have been obtained to give the king of pop his own music biopics and by none other than Graham King who produced the Bohemian Rhapsody biopic of Mercury. Whilst no studio has become involved just yet and there’s no further information out there at this time, likely due to COVID delays, something will be coming together in the future and will certainly be an interesting watch depending on which parts of Jackson’s life are covered.

If there’s ever been a reason to get some golden oldies playing on the radio or featuring on Spotify’s big playlists once again, this will be it, and if other movie releases are anything to go by then it will lead to a bit of a renaissance for the artists featured too.
