Five airlines have suspended all flights to Chiang Rai International Airport in response to the province’s most severe inundation in decades.
Today, Thai Airways, Nok Air, Thai Vietjet, and Thai Lion Air ceased operations at Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai International Airport. Thai Air Asia is the sole airline that operates flights between Bangkok and Chiang Rai.

The flooding today has reached the parking lots of Chiang Rai airport, while the houses of the airport staff have been underwater for days.
Officials announced the closure of roads and bridges in Chiang Rai city on Thursday morning. The closure affected access to key locations, including Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai International Airport, the five-way Pho Khun intersection and the provincial hall.
Meanwhile, Government offices and private sector organizations in Chiang Rai have joined forces to provide free Accommodation and parking spaces for those affected by the ongoing flooding, as well as for volunteers assisting in the area.
