On Tuesday, the Chiang Rai Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command ordered all districts to closely monitor for flash floods, forest runoff, and overflowing rivers after days of heavy rain.

On early Tuesday morning the Ngao River overflowed its banks washing out roads, flooding houses and agricultural areas. All districts heads were ordered to prepare tools, machinery, equipment, and personnel to provide immediate assistance 24 hours a day when requested.

The affected areas were Tambon Muang Yai, Tambon Lai Ngao, Tambon Tha Kham, Tambon Por, and Amphoe Wiang Kaen, in Chiang Rai Province. A total of 15 villages along both sides of the Ngao River were affected.

A broken bridge was reported in the village between Ban Nong Tao, Village No. 4 – Ban Huai Han, Village No. 9, Tambon Por, Amphoe Wiang Kaen. There was a landslide on Highway 1155, Ban Pang Po, Village No. 1 – Ban Yu Suk, Village No. 10, Tambon Por.

In Amphoe Thoeng, there was a landslide on Highway 1155, with fallen trees blocking the road from Ban Prachaphakdi, Village No. 25, Tambon Tap Tao, Amphoe Thoeng – Ban Pang Po, Village No. 1, Tambon Por, Amphoe Wiang Kaen.

The Chiang Rai Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command is also urgently surveying the damage and providing assistance to those affected by flooding.
