WestJet flights have been canceled at Edmonton International Airport

(CTN News) – WestJet: Edmonton International Airport officials have confirmed that several flights are being canceled due to ongoing labour disruptions. WestJet and Swoop are both affected by the disruption.

On Thursday afternoon, a press release issued by WestJet indicated that the airline currently has seven flights scheduled to depart and three flights scheduled to arrive within the next few hours, according to a press release released by the airline on Thursday.

Fortunately, Swoop flights had not been affected by the incident due to the fact that no flight was impacted.

More than 1,800 pilots at WestJet, a subsidiary of WestJet, as well as Swoop, a company owned by WestJet, may be forced to walk off their jobs if a deal cannot be reached by 5 a.m. (Eastern Time) on Friday morning in the event that a deal cannot be reached.

The CEO of WestJet,

Mr. Alexis von Hoensbroech, has confirmed that the company and its pilots’ union, the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), are still unable to reach an agreement on key sticking points, such as wages, as the year draws to a close.

Alain Bernard Lewall, a representative of the ALPA union, explains that the union is committed to negotiating a North American industry standard contract as a means to improve and help fix the airline industry’s pilot retention and attraction crisis in order to retain and attract pilots to the industry.

There is a deadlock in the government and thousands of passengers will have to cancel their travel plans, which will affect their plans for the long weekend and beyond.

During the month of April alone, WestJet is scheduled to operate more than 16,700 flights, making it the country’s third largest airline.

The Calgary-based airline has stated that if strike action is taken, it is expecting “significant reductions” in flights if the strike takes place.

There is a recommendation from the EIA that passengers should check their flight status before arriving at the airport and that they always arrive early for their flights.
