(CTN News) – Qantas Group’s decision to add the Airbus A220 to its fleet is a significant milestone for both the airline and the aircraft manufacturer.

As the 20th operator of the A220, joins an exclusive group of airlines that have recognized the capabilities and potential of this state-of-the-art plane.

One of the standout features of A220 is its unique livery, which showcases Aboriginal artwork. This not only adds a touch of cultural significance to the aircraft but also highlights’ commitment to promoting and celebrating Australia’s indigenous heritage.

The A220 will primarily be operated by QantasLink, the regional airline arm of Qantas, which serves various destinations within Australia.

This new addition to the fleet is part of a larger order for 29 A220s, signaling’ confidence in the aircraft’s performance and suitability for their regional operations.

Replacing QantasLink’s existing Boeing 717 fleet, the A220 offers several advantages. Its extended range, which is twice as long as the Boeing 717, allows for non-stop flights of up to 3,450 nautical miles.

This increased range opens up new possibilities for, enabling them to serve more destinations and expand their regional network.

In addition to its impressive range, the A220 also boasts a remarkable 25% reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

This aligns with Qantas’ commitment to sustainability and reducing its environmental impact. By introducing the A220, Qantas is taking a significant step towards achieving its goal of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) by 2030.

Passenger comfort is also a priority for Qantas, and the A220 delivers in this aspect as well. With the largest cabin, seats, and windows in its class, passengers can expect a more spacious and enjoyable flying experience.

The two-class layout, accommodating 137 passengers, ensures that both business and economy class passengers will have a comfortable journey.

The A220 has already gained significant popularity worldwide, with Airbus securing nearly 850 orders from 30 different customers. Its success can be attributed to its versatility, efficiency, and advanced technology. With over 300 units already delivered, the A220 has proven itself as a reliable and capable aircraft.
