Tesla Asks Which Jobs Are Essential, Fueling Layoff Fears
(CTN News) – In a report on Wednesday by News, Tesla (TSLA.O), opens new tab managers have been asked whether each of their employees’ positions are critical, which in turn has stoked layoff fears within the company.
Several people familiar with the matter told that Tesla sent out a single-line query for each job after canceling some employees’ biannual performance reviews after cancelling some of the employees’ annual performance reviews, opens a new tab in the browser.
The company did not immediately respond to’ request for a comment after it received Reuters’ request for a response requesting a comment from Tesla.
A share of the company gained 2.7% in pre-market trading, which is a significant increase after falling more than 25% so far this year due to a decline in the stock price.
It comes after Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, warned in an interview with Bloomberg that sales growth would slow down this year despite price cuts that have already impacted margins at the world’s most valuable automaker and have stoked investor concerns over soft demand and Chinese competition.
As of the end of December of last year, according to the Tesla information on the company’s website, the company was reported to have 140,473 employees all around the world as of the end of December.
