CHIANG RAI – The Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand, with support from GSB Bank and Chiang Rai Provincial Administrative Organization, hosted the seventh round of the “GSB Thailand Championship 2025” at the Chiang Rai Provincial Sports Complex.
This event featured a total prize pool of 600,000 baht and is being held from 8 to 14 September 2025.
On the first day, men’s tennis singles kicked off with qualifying matches. Eight top players from this round would go through to the main draw. A standout moment on 8 September saw Vorathan Munphian, a promising young player from Chiang Mai, secure his main draw spot after winning both matches with confidence.
In his first match, Vorathan beat Piyawat Ananchaiyaphat from Chiang Rai 6-4, 6-0. He kept his form in the next round, defeating Suksod Vorathan from Bangkok 6-1, 6-3.
Other results from the men’s tennis singles qualifiers included Ingphon Innupat (Yala), who won against Pasathorn Pornpacharawat (Chiang Rai) 6-3, 6-4. Wutthikorn Ruangpan from Chiang Rai came from behind to overcome Thathep Worawanarakul (Chiang Rai) 3-6, 6-0, then took a 10-5 win in the tie-break.
Peeraphat Peeraphak (Uttaradit) defeated Pornpawit Polchaipatana (Chiang Rai) with two convincing 6-0 sets. Vorathan Munphian (Chiang Rai) claimed a 6-4 win over Piyawat Ananchaiyaphat (Chiang Rai). Phetcharat Wongthianchai (Chiang Rai) also advanced, beating Chawakhorn Piromkit from Lampang 6-3, 6-3.
In the second and final round of tennis qualifiers, Ingphon Innupat (Yala) beat Krissada Nittayakesatwattana (Bangkok) 6-0, 6-0. Pongtham Phantarak (Mae Hong Son) won over Rapeepong Amnuaysombat (Nonthaburi) with the same score. Charles Glomsombat (Chiang Mai) defeated Paramit Janthawitoon (Lampang) 6-0, 6-0.
Peeraphat Peeraphak (Uttaradit) outplayed Netithorn Jiramhawittayakul (Chiang Rai) 6-1, 6-0, while Chotiphong Inchai (Phitsanulok) secured a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Narunat Patthayakul (Tuk). Panchat Suntornpoksit (Bangkok) battled past Phettarakul Wongthianchai (Chiang Rai) 4-6, 7-6(6), then took the super tie-break 10-8.
