Reddit Outage Causes Post And Comment Loading Issues.
(CTN News) – There are several problems that I have noticed. If I am not logged in, I am unable to Reddit view any posts or comments. Instead, I am greeted with an error message or a blank page beneath the Reddit search bar.
However, if I am logged in on an account that does not utilize the old Reddit layout, I can see posts on the homepage. Nevertheless, when I try to access the comments section of a post from the homepage, it fails to load. Interestingly, even with this account,
Posts do not load in specific subreddits.
Strangely enough, when I use my account that utilizes the old layout on my desktop browser, I can browse the platform without any issues.
At 12:47 PM ET, the popular online platform Reddit experienced a significant problem that caused the unavailability of many of its web and mobile platforms. The company promptly acknowledged the issue in a post on its status website, assuring users that they were actively investigating the problem.
A dedicated team of responders was immediately deployed to restore the service and address the underlying cause of the outage.
By 1:22 PM ET, Reddit provided an update, indicating that they had successfully identified the issue and were in the process of bringing the affected services back online. Since the initial announcement, there has been a noticeable improvement in the platform’s functionality.
Users have reported that comments on posts are now visible, and even when logged out, pages generally load as expected.
Despite the progress made in resolving the problem, Reddit has not yet responded to a request for comment regarding the incident.
This lack of communication leaves users and the public in general curious about the cause of the outage and any potential measures being taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The impact of the outage appears to have been widespread, as evidenced by the significant number of user reports on Downdetector, a website that tracks service disruptions.
With over 30,000 reports of issues, it is clear that a large number of Reddit users were affected by the unavailability of the platform.
Overall, Reddit’s acknowledgment of the problem, swift response, and ongoing efforts to restore the service demonstrate the company’s commitment to addressing technical issues promptly.
As the platform continues to recover, users can expect a return to normal functionality and hopefully, a more detailed explanation from Reddit regarding the cause of the outage.
