BG Pathum United blanked former champions Chiang Rai United 2-0 in a Thai League 1 clash in a home game at at BG Stadium on Wednesday night. This marks Chiang Rai United’s third loss in a row in Thai League 1.
The game started with the BG Pathum having more possession of the ball and having more chances to score.
In the 21st minute, Melvin Lorensen scored for BG Pathum to lead 1-0. Then in the 26th minute, Melvin Lorensen passed the ball to Gakuto Notsuda to score for the home team to lead 2-0 in the first half.
Just 2 minutes into the game, Chiang Rai United almost scored when Rodrigo Araujo shot from inside the right penalty area, hitting the far post. But the ball narrowly missed.
In the 11th minute, the home team had a chance when Apirak Worawong, the visiting team’s goalkeeper, came out to kick outside the penalty area but missed. The ball floated into the penalty area, BG striker Melvin Lorensen headed the ball, but unfortunately the ball went out of bounds.

In the 58th minute, Chiang Rai United’s Rodrigo Filho took the penalty kick and shot into the middle of the goal. Pisarn Dokmai Kaew, BG goalkeeper, did not miss even though he had already fallen down preventing the away team from getting on the score board.
In the 76th minute, BG Pathum almost scored another goal when Melvin Lorensen got the ball in the left penalty area and passed it to Teerasil Dangda at the far post to shoot, but it was saved by Apirak Worawong, Chiang Rai United’s goalkeeper, in time.
After that, both teams could nothing more, the game ended with BG Pathum United defeating Chiang Rai United 2-0.
