A foreign couple who were teachers have been found dead after falling from the 23 floor of a condominium in the Bang Na area of Bangkok. Police believe the man jumped first and then grabbed the woman’s hand dragging her death with him.

On August 26, Pol. Lt. Col. Suthep Suphot, Investigation Officer, from Bangkok’s Bang Na Police Station, received a report of two people falling and dying at a condominium in the Bang Na area of Bangkok. He went to investigate with a forensic doctors from Chulalongkorn Hospital, and volunteers from the Por Tek Tung Foundation.

At the scene the found the bodies of a couple were dead with broken and deformed limbs lying next to each other. Initial reports from Thai media indicate that the two deceased had fallen from the balcony of their 23rd-floor room.

A condo security officer told police that he was notified by a school van driver who was dropping off students at the condo there were two bodies on the road behind the condo. He said he immediately went to inspect the scene and found the bodies of a woman and a man lying across the middle of the road, so he called the police to come and investigate.

From checking the the Condo’s CCTV footage, it was found that before the incident, the couple returned from outside and walked into the elevator together. The woman was playing with her mobile phone when the man snatched it from her. Then, about 5-6 minutes later, the couple fell from the balcony of the room on that floor together.

Initially, the officers assumed that after the man snatched the mobile phone, he may have found a message that made him angry. When they entered the room, they probably had a violent argument, which led to the tragic incident.

Pol. Lt. Col. Suthep said the man was identified as Mr. Wilfriedo Castillo Mandanewho, 25, he was a language teacher at a a private school in Bangkok and wife was identified as Ms. Min Wang, 30, who was also a language teacher in Bangkok.

He said an inspection of the deceased’s room found signs of a struggle. The CCTV footage outside the building showed that the couple fell down together. The actual cause of their deaths is under investigation, however police believe Mr Mandanewho jumped first and dragged Ms. Min with him.

Rescue workers later took the bodies of the two deceased to the Department of Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn Hospital for an autopsy. Police said they would be in contact with the couples respective embassies and their families.
