TikTok Star Rory Eliza “Loses it” Over Monkey Show in Thailand
An Australian TikTok influencer, uploaded a video calling out Monkey Show in Thailand advising others not to make the same mistake she made. Rory Eliza, who has 6.9 million TikTok followers made a tearful plea on social media.
Rory stated that she wanted to hold a monkey while vacationing in Thailand and inquired about where she could obtain this experience. She said that one tour guide evaded the topic, while another suggested a location.
Rory Eliza stated that she had to pay an admission charge before entering the “Monkey Show,” and that when the doors opened, she was taken aback.
“If you’re in Thailand, Phuket, don’t pay for this, don’t support this,” she begged in the video, which has 6.7 million views in four days.
“I wish I had known before I came in because I spent money to support this cruelty.” “It’s really inhumane. “I was holding this baby monkey in my arms, and it was terrified.”
An unidentified man was seen pulling a tiny monkey with a collar around its neck and a metal chain in a video of Ms Eliza’s incident.
“Every time the guy came to take the monkey away from me, the baby just screamed and hissed.” “And every time he tightened the chain around this baby’s neck, the baby just hugged me tighter,” she told Australian news media.
Ms Eliza urged with others not to pay for such encounters.
“I wish I had known. “As I was walking out, they asked, ‘Can you give us money to care for the monkeys and support us?’ I said, ‘absolutely not, I don’t support anything you’re doing here,'” she recalled.
She said she was “absolutely in tears” as she left.
The young woman later posted her video on TikTok, where she wrote an extended caption in which she demanded that the “repulsive, disgusting” activity stop.
“All I wanted to do was hold a monkey like the ones I saw on TikTok,” she explained. “However, I learned the hard way.” I’d never travelled to Thailand before and had no idea what to expect.”
Many people commended Ms Eliza for speaking up, but others chastised her for not conducting prior research.
“I really appreciate it. “I’m going to Phuket and I was planning on doing this, but I had NO idea what poor babies [go through], so I’m definitely changing plans,” one user wrote.
“Many thanks for posting this. I’m crying. I’m travelling to Thailand in a few weeks and was planning on holding a monkey, but I won’t now!” another person stated.
“OK, but what made you think paying to hold an animal was a good idea in the first place?” questioned one.
“So you paid to hold a wild monkey and didn’t consider that abuse as well?” I’ve added another.
Monkeys are utilised for a variety of purposes in Thailand, including entertainment and tourism. Abuse has been recorded in some cases, such as the employment of monkeys for street acts or the exploitation of monkeys in the tourism business. Physical abuse, deprivation, and severe training methods are frequently used in these practises.
It is important to note, however, that not all interactions between humans and monkeys in Thailand involve maltreatment.
