Pakistani Social Media And Internet Services Are Down In Some Areas
(CTN News) – There was an outage of internet services and popular social media apps across almost every part of the country on Sunday evening, with users reporting connection errors and interruptions across the country.
Several thousands of netizens have complained about their inability to connect to various social media sites including X – formerly known as Twitter – Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube, the streaming giant.
It has also been reported that Internet PTCL services as well as Google services were disrupted on Sunday at around 5pm, according to downdetector.pk.
This problem affected both Google services as well as PTCL services at the same time.
According to downdetector’s graphs, there has been a sharp rise in connection outages on YouTube, X and Facebook in the last couple of weeks.
Furthermore, a global internet monitoring company,
Net Blocks, has also confirmed that social media apps are being disrupted across the country as a result of the DDoS attacks.
There is a nation-scale disruption of social media platforms across #Pakistan, including X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
This has been confirmed by NetBlocks, the Internet’s observatory, via its official X handle: “Confirmed: Live metrics show a nation-scale disruption to social media platforms across #Pakistan.”
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has not yet issued a statement regarding this matter as of the date of publication of this report.
No indication as to why the outage occurred has been Internet provided as of the date of publication of this report.
