Gaza Ceasefire May Extend As Hostages Are Released.

(CTN News) – The truce between Israel and Hamas in Gaza is expected to be prolonged as the release of hostages from both sides continues.

Qatar’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, Lolwah Rashid al-Khater, expressed her desire for an increase in the amount of humanitarian aid being delivered to the enclave.

During her visit to southern Gaza, she stated that they are hopeful that their efforts to extend the humanitarian truce will be successful, allowing more parties to provide relief aid.

Various approaches, including diplomatic negotiations, are being pursued in order to achieve the extension of the truce.

According to both Qatar and an official Israeli list, Hamas released 24 hostages on the first day of the truce, which was on Friday. These hostages included 13 Israelis, all of whom were women and children, some of whom were dual citizens, as well as 10 Thais and one Filipino.
Israel has subsequently released 39 women and children from its prisons as a response.

US President Joe Biden expressed Gaza’s optimism about the truce, stating that it was a good start and that he believed there was a real chance for it to be extended. He made these comments while spending the Thanksgiving holiday in Massachusetts.

Biden called for a more extensive initiative to establish a workable Palestinian state alongside Israel as a way to resolve the crisis.

Israel initiated an air, artillery, and naval operation to eliminate Hamas following the most devastating attack in its history, resulting in the death of approximately 15,000 individuals, as reported by the Gaza-based Hamas government.

As part of a deal brokered by Qatar, Egypt, the United States, Israel, and Palestinian militant groups, Hamas is anticipated to release 50 hostages in exchange for the release of 150 Palestinian prisoners during the ceasefire.
