Conor McGregor Says Ireland is at War as Migrant Crisis Escalates

Former UFC Champion Conor McGregor has stated that he ‘does not condone’ the rioting in Dublin, Ireland, but that a ‘change’ must occur following a knife assault that injured five people, including three children.

A five-year-old girl is in serious condition following an incident in Dublin on Thursday, which sparked violent protests in the Irish capital.

McGregor, was quick to criticize the government’s response to the stabbing, having previously been loud this week following the sentencing of Jozef Puska, a 33-year-old Slovak who was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of 23-year-old Irish woman Ashling Murphy.

“Ireland, we are at war,” McGregor tweeted following Puska’s sentencing, before reacting to Thursday’s knife assault with the words: “Innocent children ruthlessly stabbed by a mentally deranged non-national in Dublin, Ireland today.”

There is severe risk among us in Ireland that should never have been in the first place, and no action has been taken to assist the public in any manner, shape, or form with this terrifying fact. “IT IS NOT ENOUGH.”

On Friday, however, the 35-year-old emphasized that he does not support the Dublin riots, after Britain First party leader called for the mixed martial artist to lead a “Freedom March.”

Dublin Ireland Riots

“I do not condone last night’s riots,” McGregor said on Friday in a tweet. “I do not support any attacks on our first responders in the course of their duties.” I do not support shoplifting or store damage. Last night’s events did nothing to address the difficulties we face.

“I understand frustrations, and I understand that a move must be made to ensure that the change we require is implemented.” And quickly! I’m putting things together. Believe me, I am much more tactical, and I have support. Mark my words: there will be change in Ireland. Change was required.

“In the last month, innocent children have been stabbed as they leave school.” Murdered was Ashling Murphy. Two men from Sligo had their heads severed. THIS IS NOT THE FUTURE OF IRELAND! If they do not act quickly with a strategy to protect Ireland’s safety, I will.”

McGregor called for the guy responsible for the stabbing to face “torture and death” on Thursday.

Ireland is Full

Ireland has traditionally taken pride in greeting guests with kindness, branding itself as the home of “a hundred thousand welcomes,” but there is now a new slogan: #IrelandIsFull.

It can be seen on banners on social media, and it is screamed at protests alongside other slogans like #IrelandForTheIrish and #IrishLivesMatter.

They are the scream of an anti-immigrant reaction that has swept across Dublin and other cities in recent weeks, gaining acclaim from far-right friends throughout the world.

“Unlike the English, who say little, the Irish are speaking out – and protesting on the streets – about the large number of young, male ‘asylum seekers’.”

An urgent housing and homelessness crisis has collided with the state’s difficulty to house Ukrainians and asylum seekers, fueling claims of preferential treatment for foreigners.

Protesters also claim that holding centers for “unvetted” young male refugees make them feel uncomfortable.

Ireland is dealing with two crises. Many Irish individuals are unable to afford to rent or buy a home, resulting in overcrowding, homelessness, and rage. Simultaneously, the system for relocating asylum seekers and refugees is on the verge of collapse.

The state currently houses approximately 73,000 migrants, including 54,000 Ukrainians and 19,000 international protection candidates. The total number was 7,500 a year ago. Hotels, emergency shelters, and other forms of temporary housing are all at capacity.

Hostility toward refugee centers in Ireland has spiked in the past, most recently in 2019 when arson assaults occurred, only to diminish. With the economy weakening and the housing crisis set to deepen, both parties expect tensions to rise.
