15 Dead In Prague Mass Shooting At Charles University

(CTN News) – In a distressing and tragic event, the historic city of Prague was marred by a mass shooting at Charles University’s Faculty of Arts, which is situated in the heart of the Old Town.

This incident, which occurred earlier today, has resulted in the loss of 15 lives, while nine others have sustained severe injuries. Czech Police have confirmed that the shooter has been neutralized, bringing an end to this horrifying episode.

The perpetrator’s deadly rampage prompted a Prague swift response from law enforcement, who swiftly evacuated the entire building as they worked to contain the unfolding crisis.

Utilizing social media platforms, the police kept citizens updated on the situation, urging them to steer clear of the area and remain indoors while the evacuation and subsequent investigations were carried out.

“We have successfully evacuated the entire building, and a thorough inspection is currently being conducted,” stated the Czech Police in an official communication.

The Faculty of Arts, located near Prague’s Old Town, not only serves as an academic institution but also attracts numerous tourists, intensifying the shock and concern surrounding this incident.

According to reports, students sought refuge inside locked classrooms for safety as chaos erupted on campus. Ongoing police intervention highlights the importance of citizens staying away from the area.

Initial information from authorities confirms the presence of both deceased and injured individuals, intensifying the seriousness of the situation.

In an interview with local media, Prague Czech Interior Minister Vit Rakusan stated that the perpetrator responsible for this atrocious act had been neutralized. He assured the public that no other gunmen were present at the scene and that there was no immediate danger. Rakusan appealed for cooperation from the local community as the investigation progressed.

Prague Mayor Bohuslav Svoboda informed that the philosophy department of Charles University, situated in the square, had been successfully evacuated. Law enforcement has sealed off the area and launched a thorough investigation into this tragic incident, which has left the city in a state of shock.
