PTI Confident of National and Punjab Wins, Sweeps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Polls

(CTN News) – They have also swept the polls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the PTI is confident they will be in the national parliament and Punjab.

However, most of the candidates who declared victory were defeated later. PTI’s confidence is based on evidence of mass rigging, including videos of candidates stamping their ballot papers themselves in Karachi so that the courts will be on their side.

The PTI claims to have a two-thirds majority, but we’ll have to see what happens in the next few days. Another option is joining a much smaller Shia party, Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, close to Imran Khan.

Pakistan General Election 2024: Results update

Nine of the 265 contested seats still haven’t been tallied.

The latest election commission website tally shows independents with 100 seats.

PMLN has 73 seats, PPP has 54, and the PPP has 73.

Could Imran Khan win?

Those elections in Pakistan this week were supposed to be a formality, with the outcome – a win for the PMLN – predetermined.

Imran Khan’s PTI pulled a surprise win despite Pakistan’s powerful military trying to control the narrative.

Bilawal Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) 54
Nawaz Pakistan Muslim League (PMLN) 76
Imran Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) affiliates 97
Other Others 34

What role is the army playing in this election?

According to King’s College London’s Ayesha Siddiqa, Pakistan’s army wants a weak coalition to form under PMLN leadership.

“In a way, these are the results we got,” Siddiqa said. “But I’d argue that these aren’t the results they expected. They did everything to make sure voter turnout was low, but people showed up passionately.”

Shehbaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, or Nawaz Sharif would probably lead a coalition government together, according to Siddiqa.

Pakistan’s powerful military establishment has ruled directly for more than three decades.

According to the analyst, the PMLN has a lead in Punjab, the country’s most populous province, so it will safely form government there.
