Police in Thailand are hunting for two Scottish men whose Myanmar business partner was discovered dead inside a fancy high-rise condominium in Bangkok early Wednesday morning. The two man were also suspected of leaving with 5 million baht (US$135,000) of the deceased’s money.
The victim’s mother reported the man’s killing to Bangkok police about 1.30 a.m., alleging that she was also attacked by the two Scots. Police, forensic officers and rescuers headed to an apartment on the 23rd floor of a condominium building on Soi Sukhumvit 4 in Bangkok’s Klong Toey area.
They discovered the body of a Myanmar man, later identified as Mr Kayaw Zeyar, aged 53, lying on the floor with bloody injuries to his face, ears, and head. He was thought to have been violently punched. The scene contained no weapons.
Police claimed a travel bag, some personal goods, a huge safe, and a mobile phone were seized at the site and transferred to a Bangkok police station for examination.
The victim’s mother told authorities that her son ran a foreign currency exchange company with two Scottish males, simply known as William and John. On Tuesday night, the three partners gathered for a business conversation near Wat Phraya Krai before returning to the Klong Toey flat.
According to the victim’s mother, the three guys argued, which resulted in a violent altercation. She was also assaulted and knocked out, according to authorities.
When she awoke, she saw her kid had died on the floor. She assumed the men had clashed over a business concern involving a “black chemical”. She further claimed that the two attackers stole approximately 5 million baht from her son.
Investigators have begun their search for the two Scottish men and are preparing an application for court arrest warrants.
The mother’s name was not made public, nor were the complete identities of the two suspects.
