KAMPHAENG PHET – People in a local village were shaken after a 40-year-old man was found dead in his home, lying in a large pool of blood. Bloodstains were reported across several areas of the house. Police are working to confirm whether it was self-harm during a violent episode or an assault.
On Jan. 21, 2026, police investigator Lt. Pratchaya Thaban-khong of Mueang Kamphaeng Phet Police Station received a report of a deceased person inside a house in Moo 5, Ban Mae Naree, Na Bo Kham Subdistrict, Mueang District, Kamphaeng Phet.
He informed supervisors and went to the scene with the station chief, forensic officers, a medical examiner from Kamphaeng Phet Hospital, and local rescue volunteers.
The home is a two-story house built with a mix of wood and concrete. In a ground-floor area near the kitchen and a bedroom, officers found the body of Mr. Niphon, 40, lying on his left side.

He had severe wounds on the back of his left hand, with a blood vessel cut, and a similar deep wound on his right wrist. No other obvious injuries were found.
Investigators also found blood splattered and smeared across multiple areas, including the bedroom, the kitchen, and extending to a storage area and the back of the house. A piece of wood was discovered at the scene.
Near where the body was found, a wooden daybed held a liquor bottle, an energy drink, and a drinking glass. Officers collected these items as evidence.

Ms. Samran, 50, a cousin who is considered an older sister figure, was the first to discover the body. The victim’s mother, Ms. Phat, 64, said her son frequently drank alcohol, used drugs, and was involved in online gambling.
She said that when he was intoxicated, he often lashed out, broke belongings, and became violent toward family members.
Because of this, she and the homeowner, an uncle, had left the house to stay elsewhere. She added that two days earlier, he allegedly attacked her and left a wound on her forehead.

Another cousin, Mr. Yongyut, 52, said he saw the man the afternoon before the death, walking out to buy white liquor. Later that evening, he heard shouting from inside the house, including threats to kill the mother, along with loud banging and crashing sounds. No one dared to go inside. The man was found dead the next day.
Police said they are not ruling out any cause at this stage, including an attack by another person or self-inflicted injuries during a violent episode. Investigators will interview witnesses in detail and wait for forensic results to determine the exact cause of death.
If the case turns out to be a homicide, police said they will track down the suspect and take legal action.
