BANGKOK – Dusit Residences and a major public rooftop park showcase Thailand’s construction expertise, architectural ambition and internationally recognised urban development.
Bangkok is among ten cities featured in London Construction Magazine’s international study, Global Tall Building Construction 2027: Ten Cities to Watch. The independent UK publication celebrates Thailand’s ability to deliver complex tall buildings and mixed-use urban districts, recognising the Thai developers, architects, engineers, contractors and skilled teams behind an exceptional landmark beside Lumpini Park.
A remarkable Bangkok landmark shaped by Thai expertise
Dusit Residences has reached an architectural height of 299.1 metres across 69 storeys. The Council on Vertical Urbanism (CVU) records the tower as architecturally topped out, with completion forecast for 2026. It contains 399 apartments and forms part of Dusit Central Park, the redevelopment of the former Dusit Thani hotel site beside Lumpini Park. Vimarn Suriya, a joint venture associated with Thai groups Dusit International and Central Pattana, is delivering the wider development.
Thai contractor Ritta was appointed for the main construction works on a scheme combining residences, offices, retail and the new Dusit Thani Bangkok hotel. Thai architects Architects 49 have worked alongside OMA, with Aurecon providing structural engineering. CVU records steel structural elements at lower levels and reinforced concrete above, reflecting complex interfaces between materials and specialist trades. The development also features Suan Dusit Arun, an 11,200 sq m public rooftop park that opened in September 2025.
Thai construction achievement with international appeal
Thailand’s achievement is about more than building height. The project unites Thai development leadership, contractors, specialist construction teams and international design expertise on a highly constrained central-city site. It also shows how major construction can create public value: Dusit reported more than 951,000 visits to Suan Dusit Arun during its first year. From structural coordination to the integration of green space, Bangkok offers a compelling example of engineering ambition informed by the city’s heritage and community needs.
“Thailand deserves international recognition for the engineering intelligence, creativity and craftsmanship behind its remarkable skyline. Dusit Residences is not only an impressive high-rise, but it also forms part of a development that connects ambitious construction with Thai identity and public space. Bangkok demonstrates how local expertise can work with international partners to deliver architecture of lasting value.” — Mihai Chelmus, Founder & Editor, London Construction Magazine
