CHIANG RAI – A retired teacher from Chiang Rai refuses to back down. He filed complaints against his old school for creating “ghost students.” These fake names helped pull in extra per-student funding. Plus, they destroyed evidence during the COVID outbreak.
Now, he rides his motorcycle to Bangkok. He wears only boxers and wraps a Thai flag around his upper body. His goal? Ask Police General Seripisut Temiyavet, head of the Seri Ruam Thai Party, to investigate.
This morning, Boon Than Thammapanya, 63, a former civil servant and teacher, started his trip. He wore just one pair of boxers. A large Thai flag covered his torso instead of a shirt.
He drove a blue Honda motorcycle to pay respects at the Phu Kun Mengrai Maharat statue in Chiang Rai city. Then, he headed out toward the Seri Ruam Thai Party office in Bangkok.

Boon Than explained his frustration. He complained before to the Interior Ministry, the Chiang Rai Damrong Dhamma Center, and the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). Both central and local NACC offices got his reports. Yet, nothing happened. The NACC even said he lacked enough proof.
So, he turns to Seripisut as his last hope. Previous agencies ignored him. He found 338 fake student names between 2017 and 2021. These “ghost students” are tied to per-student budgets from the Interior Ministry.
School co-op funds also went straight to the director’s account. All evidence came from official docs, like unchangeable student IDs.

However, no one checked it out. During COVID, they sold off student lists to wipe records. Boon Than insists his claims hold. He would not waste time with fakes. The Damrong Dhamma Center never called him in. NACC dropped the case. As a retired teacher, he acts for the nation and the kids. Therefore, he rides on.
At 63, the trip takes about two days. His route goes from Chiang Rai to Phayao, Lampang, Phrae, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, and Nakhon Sawan. Reporters saw his bike decked with signs. One reads, “Mourning injustice.” Another says, “Born to fight, or not human.”
The front honors Seripisut: “Thieves meet me, Na Kae hero.” He circled the statue once before hitting Phahonyothin Road toward Phayao. Hot weather hit hard. He plans overnight stops in Phayao or Phrae.
