(CTN News) – According to a recent Forbes Advisor survey, Bangkok is Southeast Asia’s second safest city for travelers, trailing only Singapore. The findings were published in Forbes Advisor’s article titled “12 Best Travel Insurance Companies of July 2024,” which rated 60 worldwide destinations based on numerous risk factors.

Bangkok’s Safety Ranking in a Global and Regional Perspective

Bangkok placed 30th on the global list of the most dangerous cities for tourists, with a risk score of 53.34. This leaves the Thai capital in a safer position than many other foreign capitals. Despite this, the city’s risk indicators for crime and health security were significantly higher than other measures.

Key Metrics of the Study

Forbes Advisor’s comprehensive analysis evaluated cities using seven essential metrics:

  • Travel Safety Crime Risk
  • Personal Security Risk
  • Risks related to health and infrastructure.
  • Natural Disaster Risk

Comparative Analysis of Digital Security Risk in Other Cities.

According to the survey, the most unsafe cities in the world are Caracas, Venezuela, with a perfect risk score of 100, followed by Karachi (93.12), Yangon (91.67), Lagos (91.54), and Manila (91.49). In sharp contrast, Singapore was named the world’s safest city, with a risk score of 0. Other top safe cities include Tokyo (10.72), Toronto (13.6), Sydney (22.28), and Zurich (22.97).

Bangkok’s performance in many risk categories.

  • Crime Risk: 39.
  • Security risks for health and infrastructure are 39 and 22, respectively.
  • Digital Security Risk: 17.
  • Personal Security Risk: 5.

Southeast Asia’s safest cities

Bangkok scored as Southeast Asia’s second-safest city for tourists, trailing only Singapore. Other cities in the region are listed as follows:

  • Kuala Lumpur: 55.36.
  • Ho Chi Minh City: 61.83.
  • Jakarta: 81.98.

Conclusion

Bangkok’s ranking as the second safest Southeast Asian city for tourists reflects its relatively low risk in several safety areas, despite higher ratings in crime and health security threats. For travelers considering a trip to Southeast Asia, Bangkok is a safer alternative than many other cities in the region, making it a popular destination for international tourists.

This score reflects Bangkok’s efforts to improve safety and security, which have positively impacted its reputation as a vacation destination. Tourists should examine the full range of safety measures and remain cautious, especially in places with higher risk rankings, for a more complete vacation experience.
