NAKHON SAWAN – Chaos broke out after a major warehouse fire broke out in the city center, injuring one firefighter. Officials believe a possible electrical short circuit, along with extreme heat, may have helped the flames spread fast.
The fire started at a storage building used by a well-known built-in furniture and home improvement shop, Home Care, on Rangsiyothai Road in Pak Nam Pho Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Sawan.
The incident happened in the early evening of March 9, 2026. Because the site stored large amounts of flammable materials, crews rushed in to stop the fire before it spread to nearby buildings.
Firefighters from Nakhon Sawan City Municipality, along with teams from nearby local agencies, sent more than 10 fire engines to the scene. Crews sprayed water in over 30 rounds, yet the fire remained hard to control.
Inside the warehouse, stacks of wood, paint, and thinner kept feeding the blaze. As a result, flames surged again and again, and thick smoke poured out for hours.

To reach the source of the fire, crews had to break parts of a wall and force open sections of the building. That step helped them direct water into the hottest areas and slow the spread. Still, the operation took more than two hours before firefighters fully contained the flames. During the response, one officer suffered injuries.
At the time of the fire, the store had already closed, so there were no customers inside. No deaths were reported.
Meanwhile, police and responders partially closed traffic near the Phahonyothin intersection. They also asked residents to avoid the area, both to keep roads clear for emergency vehicles and to reduce exposure to the heavy smoke.

According to the shop owner, Boonyasit Penpradaporn, 51, the building was used to store wood, thinner, and paint supplies. Although the store was closed, he was still in his office when he heard an unusual sound coming from the warehouse.
Soon after, he saw smoke rising and ran to check. By then, the fire had already spread quickly. He said the exact cause was still unclear at that moment.
Police at Mueang Nakhon Sawan Police Station said early findings point to an electrical short circuit. The intense heat and the large volume of flammable goods likely made the situation worse, which explains why the fire grew so quickly.
Officials plan to bring in forensic teams to examine the scene, confirm the cause, and assess the total damage in detail.
