BANGKOK – A 48-year-old man turned himself in to police after a woman he had been seeing died following an assault at a house in Pathum Thani. Police later found drugs in his system. He told officers the fight started because he was jealous and suspected she was chatting with another man.
At around 3:00 a.m. on March 24, 2026, investigators at Lat Lum Kaeo Police Station were alerted by emergency responders from Na Mai Subdistrict Administrative Organization about a death linked to an assault. The incident happened at a home in Village 8, Na Mai subdistrict, Lat Lum Kaeo district, Pathum Thani just south of Bangkok.
Police, patrol officers, investigators, Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers, and the on-duty doctor from Lat Lum Kaeo Hospital went to the scene. The house was a two-story home.
On the ground floor, near the front of the house, they found the body of a 40-year-old woman identified as Namfon, a Pathum Thani resident. Officers saw bruises on her face and body, which were believed to have come from an assault.
The suspect was identified as Somsak, 48, the son of the homeowner. He had reportedly been involved in a secret relationship with the victim. After the incident, he fled the scene in a car to Bangkok.
People in the house told police that shortly after midnight, they heard the pair arguing inside another house next door. However, no one stepped in because the couple fought often.
Then, at around 1:50 a.m., Somsak shouted for help. When family members came downstairs, they found Namfon unconscious. They called emergency responders, who tried CPR, but she could not be revived. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and police were notified.
According to initial information, Namfon worked for a company in Pathum Thani. Somsak worked as a day laborer. The two had reportedly been seeing each other for about three to four months, even though the woman already had a husband.
In mid-February, the two had also argued at the same house. At that time, she called her husband to pick her up and reportedly promised she would cut ties with Somsak and not return. Still, she later resumed the relationship, and the conflict ended in her death.
After the preliminary examination, Bangkok Metropolitan Police and the doctor sent the body to the Institute of Forensic Science at the Ministry of Justice for a detailed autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Officers also began efforts to locate the suspect.
Later, at about 6:00 a.m., Somsak went to Lat Lum Kaeo Police Station and surrendered. During questioning, he said he saw the victim chatting with another man and became suspicious when she did not answer his questions. He told police they had argued over jealousy many times before. He also said he never intended to hurt her because he loved her.
He told officers the argument lasted for hours before it turned physical. After that, he said the woman ran to the front of the house, sat down, and asked for smelling salts. He claimed he even asked if she was pretending, then went to get the inhaler.
When he returned, she had collapsed. He said he tried to wake her and then asked his younger sibling to call an ambulance. He also said he rode out to look for the hospital vehicle, but was later told that she had died. He added that he felt sorry and wanted to apologize to the victim’s family.
After the initial interview, officers took Somsak for a medical examination and found narcotics in his body. He admitted drug use. Bangkok Metropolitan Police then handed him over to investigators to face charges of assault causing death and illegal drug use. Legal action is now moving forward.
