What is Disease X? World Economic Forum To Discuss Health Threat

(CTN News) – WWF 2024 started Monday (Jan 15) in Davos, Switzerland. Disease X is a mysterious illness caused by an unknown microbial threat that’s set to be discussed at the forum. A WHO panel will discuss the health threat at the WEF on Wednesday, Forbes reports.

This illness is caused by an unknown, yet serious microbial threat that is causing the illness. Aside from Ebola and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), Disease X was listed as a priority disease by the World Health Organization (WHO) on the list of pathogens that need to be studied urgently in 2017.

Disease X and its significance

According to the WHO, studying Disease X will help prepare for an unknown disease through cross-cutting R&D (research and development). As a result of Ebola, Covid, and other illnesses, the global humanitarian crisis has been a wake-up call.
