PHANG NGA – Police have solved a disturbing murder case after finding the body of a 51-year-old Thai woman submerged off the coast of Phang Nga Province. Her 21-year-old boyfriend, who worked as a bar host, has been taken into custody.

The woman’s body turned up in the Tha Yai Canal, near a set of fish cages in Khok Kloy Subdistrict, Takua Pa District, on 8 August. She had an iron chain fixed around her neck and was secured to two concrete dumbbells. Officers estimate she had been in the water for around two days.

A post-mortem confirmed the woman’s identity as Kansiree, aged 51, originally from Maha Sarakham Province in northeastern Thailand. She had been living in Patong in Phuket and was previously in a relationship with a foreign national.

The two had bought a home in Patong, and Kansiree inherited his assets when he passed away several years ago.

According to Khaosod News, before her death, Kansiree had listed the house for sale and received a 500,000 baht deposit. Investigators learned she had been in a relationship for two years with Teeraphat, a 21-year-old bar host, considerably younger than her.

He had moved into her house on 50 Pi Road in Phuket’s Kathu District.

Security footage showed Teeraphat removing Kansiree’s body from the home. This led investigators to search the property for more details. Officers checked another address in Ban Kahai, Kahai Subdistrict, Takua Thung District, where they found an Isuzu pickup truck with bloodstains inside. This evidence supported the case for an arrest warrant.

On 14 August, police from Region 8 found Teeraphat in Phang Nga Province and brought him to Khok Kloy Police Station. He faces charges of murder and for hiding or moving a body to conceal her death.

Teeraphat admitted to killing Kansiree after constant arguments sparked by jealousy over their age gap. On 6 August, a heated dispute over business investments turned violent. In anger, he hit her on the head with a dumbbell, which killed her.

He then used her pickup truck to move the body and disposed of it from Sarasin Bridge, trying to cover his tracks. He also took her mobile phone and documents when he left the scene, leading to his eventual arrest.
