SAMUT PRAKAN – A shocking event unfolded at a shopping mall in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan, when a 19-year-old ex-girlfriend threw an acid-based bathroom cleaner on a 21-year-old man. The attack left him with burns and blisters on his arms, legs and several parts of his body.

Later that evening, the young woman turned herself in at Bang Kaew Police Station to give her statement and face charges of assault.

Bang Kaew Police reported that at approximately 9:30 a.m. on August 10, they received a report of an acid attack inside a shopping mall in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan. Officers, along with a rescue team, rushed to the scene.

They found Silapat Ployluan, 21, from Nakhon Sawan, sitting on the bathroom floor with burns and blisters across his arms, legs and body. Rescuers called for an ambulance and provided first aid before sending him to the hospital for treatment, in line with his rights as a patient.

The person responsible was identified as his 19-year-old former girlfriend, who had run off after the attack. Police collected evidence and checked security cameras to track her down and begin legal action.

He Never Saw it Coming

Silapat told police that the attacker was his ex-girlfriend Mew, age 19. He said he was arranging products at work when she approached unexpectedly and splashed the bathroom cleaner at him before running out of the mall.

He never saw it coming. Earlier, Mew had damaged his motorbike. He reported that case to the police in early June, and mediation was ongoing. Now, this new incident had taken place.

Colleagues and supervisors told police that Silapat was working normally when a woman, known to be his ex-girlfriend, approached him and threw the cleaning agent at him. He ran for help and was rushed to the bathroom to rinse the chemical off, then the staff called emergency services.

She Mixed the Bathroom Cleaner

At 4:00 p.m., Mew arrived at Bang Kaew Police Station to surrender and hear the charges from Pol. Lt. Sathamorn Prasertsuwan. She admitted to mixing the bathroom cleaner from two brands (Duck Pro and Vixol) that contain hydrochloric acid, and attacking Silapat, which resulted in his injuries.

Mew explained to officers that she and Silapat had lived together for about three months. During that time, Silapat never helped with expenses and borrowed over 30,000 baht from her to pay for his motorbike and other costs.

She asked him to move out, but they hadn’t officially broken up, and he still visited her. Recently, Mew discovered Silapat had a new girlfriend and tried unsuccessfully to get her money back. This led her to damage his motorbike on June 9. That case is still being mediated, and since then, the two have argued via text.

She said that yesterday, Silapat visited her at work, verbally abused her and threatened to hurt her, but she didn’t fight back as she was at work. Angry, she went to his workplace on her motorbike to get even.

When she arrived, she saw him in the mall, lost her temper, walked into the bathroom, saw some bathroom cleaner, poured a mix into her cup and threw it at him. She said she startled Silapat, who was looking at his phone.

When he turned to look, she splashed the bathroom cleaner toward his body, not his face, then fled the scene. Police charged Mew with assault and began the process to prosecute her according to the law.
