Mekong Watercolor Workshop 2023 Art for Tourism: Reimagine the Landscape

Chiang Rai, Thailand, December 21, 2023 – Knowledge Media Group Limited, is pleased to announce that for the first time ever, a group of top artists from Southeast Asia will gather in Chiang Rai for a few days from December 23, 2023 to participate in an art workshop named Mekong Watercolor Workshop 2023. The main goal of the event is to use art as a medium and tool to promote tourism with the theme: ART for TOURISM: Reimagine the Landscape.

The group of artists are all aptly considered as some sort of “art warriors” or “art activists” and they include Thailand’s top art activist Vasan Sitthiket and other top Thai artists such as Subin Muangchan, La Fe, Suwit Jaipom, Direk Kingnok, Chatchawan Ruksa, Phanthong Saenchan and Mareerat Srikampa. Other international participating artists are Robert Porter, Chen Qingshan, Chankerk Teh, Kek Hoon Pin, Hongsa Khouvanh, Mick Saylom and Aung Htet Lwin.

The work of art created by the artists will highlight the nature and culture of Chiang Rai province and the surrounding areas of the Mekong River.

More than 30 pieces of art produced will be exhibited in Chiang Rai and Bangkok and part of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to support Princess Sirindhorn Foundation and Chiang Rai Autistic Children’s Association.

This workshop is co-organized by Jaffee Yee and Suwit Jaipom. Jaffee was the chief organizer of ASEAN Art Expo and ASEAN Art Symposium in 2001 and well-known for his work to promote fine art photography by launching photoARTasia magazine with two self-curated shows in CentralWorld Bangkok 2008.

Suwit is is a master in portrait drawings and paintings most well known for creating extraordinary portraits of Thailand’s former King Rama 9 or King Bhumiphol Adulyadej. He is currently an advisor to the International Watercolor Society Thailand and the president of ArtBridge Chiang Rai or Chiang Rai Khua Silpa Association.
