BANGKOK – Vietjet Thailand continues its international expansion strategy with the launch of its first-ever direct service to Malaysia, introducing a new route between Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) and Kuala Lumpur (BKK–KUL).
The new service is designed to meet growing travel demand between Thailand and Malaysia while reinforcing Thailand’s position as a regional aviation hub in Southeast Asia. Promotional fares start from THB 0* (excluding taxes and fees), available for booking from today to 19 June 2026, for travel between 9 October 2026 and 27 March 2027 via www.vietjetair.com or the Vietjet Thailand mobile application.

Mr. Woranate Laprabang, Chief Executive Officer of Vietjet Thailand, said that the Bangkok–Kuala Lumpur route marks the airline’s first entry into the Malaysian market, driven by the country’s strong potential as a hub for investment, trade, and industrial growth, with GDP projected to grow by 4.7%, ranking third in ASEAN, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
At the same time, Malaysian travelers remain one of Thailand’s key inbound tourism segments. Recent data from Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports shows Malaysia ranked as the second-largest source of international visitors, with more than one million arrivals recorded in the first four months of 2026.
This new route will strengthen connectivity between Thailand and key business opportunities across the region, while supporting continued growth in travel demand between the two countries.
From a competitive standpoint, the Bangkok–Kuala Lumpur route is one of ASEAN’s key corridors, served by a mix of full-service and low-cost carriers, reflecting consistently strong travel demand.
Vietjet Thailand’s entry into this market will not only enhance price competitiveness but also expand network options, increase flight frequencies, and contribute to passenger traffic growth on this strategic regional route.

The Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) – Kuala Lumpur (BKK–KUL) route will operate daily using Boeing 737-8 aircraft from 9 October 2026, with the following schedule:
- Flight VZ680 departs Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) at 11:00 HRS and arrives in Kuala Lumpur at 14:10 HRS (local time).
- Flight VZ681 departs Kuala Lumpur at 15:15 HRS and arrives in Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) at 16:30 HRS (local time).
“The launch of this route represents a key strategic milestone within Vietjet Thailand’s fleet and network expansion roadmap, aimed at strengthening coverage across major destinations in the region.
In the second and third quarters of 2026, the airline is set to receive an additional 16 Boeing 737-8 aircraft to support increased frequencies on popular routes and the introduction of new services, including short-haul, medium-haul, and connecting flights.
This reinforces our commitment to positioning Thailand as a regional aviation hub, while enhancing connectivity to high-potential destinations and delivering diverse, memorable, and accessible travel experiences for all passengers under the ‘Enjoy Flying’ concept.
In addition, this new route serves as a key economic link between Thailand and Malaysia, supporting trade, investment, and business travel across the region. Kuala Lumpur is a major economic and financial hub in ASEAN, while Thailand remains a leading destination for tourism and services. Together, these strengths will help drive significant flows of people and capital between the two countries,” Mr. Woranate concluded.
