LAMPANG – On Sunday, Police reported a group of around ten men attacked a 42-year-old man in the street, leaving him unconscious on the road. The assault is believed to have followed a disagreement at a local nightclub before the men pursued the victim.
In the early hours of Sunday, rescue workers from Sawang Nakorn Lampang responded to a report of an attack near a rice porridge shop in Sop Tui, Mueang Lampang. They arrived with local police at about 3 am and found Mr Prayut, aged 42, lying unconscious next to his car.
He had suffered heavy bruising and a bleeding mouth. Paramedics provided first aid before taking him to Lampang Hospital.
Preliminary information suggests Mr Prayut was heading to his car, which he had parked nearby and planned to drive off. Suddenly, another car pulled up behind him. Several men got out, opened his car door, dragged him from the driver’s seat, and began to assault him.
After beating him unconscious, the group got back into their car and drove away.
Later that afternoon, reporters spoke to a witness, identified only as Mr A, who pointed out where the attack had taken place. He said he did not know how the incident started, but he saw the injured man preparing to leave when another car parked close by.
A group of men approached and attacked the man as he sat in his car. No one dared to intervene. Eventually, a bystander called the police. The witness believes the attack may have stemmed from an earlier dispute at an entertainment venue, though the police are still investigating the real cause.
CCTV footage from close to the scene showed that at 2.50 am on 24 August, a man and woman approached the victim’s car, which had its headlights on as if about to leave. Another car then parked behind it.
Several men got out, initially two or three, who walked past the victim’s car. A third man stopped to speak with the victim, still inside his vehicle. Then more men joined in, eventually growing to over ten people.
They opened the victim’s car door, pulled him out, and assaulted him until he lost consciousness. The group then quickly left in their vehicles before the authorities arrived. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the motive for this violent incident.
