UDON THANI –  The Grade 11 student at a private school in Nong Chang, Uthai Thani, reportedly attacked a teacher on August 5, 2025, after being upset about not receiving full marks on an exam.

The teacher suffered serious injuries and filed a police report at the Nong Chang police station on August 8. The investigation is ongoing, with police planning to interview the injured teacher and wait for a multi-disciplinary meeting before speaking to the student.

On August 11, at Nong Chang police station, Police Lieutenant Rewat Siritoenli (the investigating officer) brought in the teacher for a follow-up interview after the teacher was released from hospital care.

The teacher had to wait until they felt ready, both physically and mentally, to talk about what happened.

The student who committed the assault has not yet been questioned. Authorities need to set up a meeting with professionals from several fields before the investigation with the student can move forward.

Teacher, Student assault

Reporters tried to speak with the injured teacher, but the teacher declined an interview, saying only that the incident had already been reported by the Thai media. A close friend of the teacher shared more about the situation, saying the teacher, aged 33, is known for being gentle and rarely raising their voice.

The friend added that the teacher is kind to students and not known for conflict.

This was the first time the teacher had had such an incident with a student. The friend explained that the student who attacked the teacher had previous problems; last term, the same student slapped a female classmate, causing significant swelling. The student’s parents came to the school to deal with the aftermath.

In Grade 10, the student also assaulted their father. The friend described the student as having a history of aggressive behaviour. The teacher who was hurt has been teaching at the school for 11 years and now fears for their safety, saying they are considering quitting.

They also worry about the family’s influence and feel embarrassed after being attacked in front of students.

The day of the attack, the teacher went home and told their young child that a bee had stung their face. The teacher did not want their child to know about the violent incident at work.
