The Narcotics Suppression police in Chiang Mai Province report the arrest of two drug runners and the seizure of 14 million methamphetamine pills.

There arrest comes after the Narcotics Suppression Bureau was a tipped off that a large shipment of drugs was to be shipped from the Thai-Myanmar border and they were allegedly bound for central Thailand.

Around midnight last night, police spotted a bronze Honda sedan with a Chiang Mai license plate following a blue Isuzu pickup truck with a Chiang Mai license plate, near the Muang Ngai Intersection, heading towards Tambon Muang Na, Amphoe Chiang Dao, were they were intercepted by police.

Meth Pills Seized Chiang Mai

Police requested to search it of the Isuzu pickup and found that it was loaded with about 50-60 sacks of straw, all of which were filled with a total of 14 million methamphetamine pills.

The suspects were identifed as Mr. Thitiphong, aged 45, and Mr. Pradit, aged 42. Both are from Tambon Muang Na, Amphoe Chiang Dao, Chiang Mai Province.The have been charged with jointly possessing Category 1 narcotics for the purpose of distribution.

NSB Police transferred the suspects and the seized drugs to Chiang Mai’s Chiang Dao police station for further questioning and formal charges.

The police in northern Thailand are intensifying their efforts to combat narcotic trafficking. Authorities are concentrating on critical routes and entry points in response to the increase in cross-border smuggling. Significant seizures and arrests have occurred in recent operations over the past few months.
