Police arrested a 32-year-old man after he stabbed a man to death for slapping him in the head at a drinking party in Chiang Mai City.

Chiang Mai City Police received a report of an incident at Lam Khu Wai Bridge, Si Ping Muang Road, Soi 3, Chang Klan Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province.

They went to inspect the scene and found the body of Mr. Nattawut, aged 23, about 100 meters from a bridge. He had been stabbed with a knife to the ribs, causing a deep wound. There was also a knife wound on the back.

At the scene, there were bottles of white liquor and snacks. The weapon used in the incident, a kitchen knife, was thrown into the house of a villager near the scene. The perpetrator, Mr. Phonchai, aged 32, from Chiang Saen District, Chiang Rai Province, was heavily intoxicated at the scene.

The police took him and another drinking friend, Mr. Yuthana, aged 30, into custody for questioning. Mr. Ponchai confessed that he was the one who used the knife to stab Mr. Nattawut. He told police that he had been drinking alcohol with Mr. Yuthana. When the shop closed, he went to sit and drink more at the Lam Khu Wai Bridge.

Mr. Nattawut’s father came out and saw the couple drinking alcohol, so he asked to join them. At around 8 pm, Mr. Nattawut saw his drunk father lying on the side of the road.

He was angry because he thought that he and his friends had invited his father to drink alcohol. So he slapped him on the head and scolded him before carrying his heavily drunk father back home.

Not long after, Mr. Nattawut came back and threatened him and told him to buy him alcohol and food.

After Mr. Nattawut was drunk, he went and got a knife from under his car seat and proceeded to stab Mr. Nattawut. He said Mr. Nattawut ran into the village to ask for help, so he followed him.

He found Mr. Nattawut lying down and bleeding on the ground, with shocked villagers surrounding him. The villagers held him until the police arrived, where he surrendered and was arrested.

He said the reason he stabbed Mr.Nattawut was because he was angry and resentful. The deceased was disrespectful and came to scold and slap him on the head even though he was older.
