CHIANG RAI – The Governor has launched “Operation 90 Days, the 90-Day Anti-Drug Offensive,” a coordinated campaign to carry out urgent government and Interior Ministry policy on prevention, suppression, and treatment of drug-related problems. The effort aims to make communities safer and bring real peace of mind back to residents through stronger action across every part of the province.
Key Takeaways:
- The campaign began on July 6, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. in front of Chiang Rai Provincial Hall.
- Governor Chucheep Pongchai led the ceremony as head of the provincial anti-drug command center.
- The operation runs from July 1 to September 30, 2026, and covers prevention, enforcement, and recovery.
At the ceremony, Suphot Saenmee, Chiang Rai Provincial Chief Administrative Officer and secretary of the provincial anti-drug command center, presented the purpose of the operation. Heads of government offices, military units, police, administrative officers, and security agencies also attended. Their presence showed a shared commitment to tackling illegal drugs in both border areas and inland communities.

Three Main Areas of Action
The campaign follows the instructions of Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who called for close cooperation among all agencies under the policy of “relieving suffering, improving well-being, protecting public order, defeating drugs, and defeating thugs.” Chiang Rai has set the period from July 1 to September 30, 2026, as a time for intensive action across the province.
The province is focusing on three areas. First, prevention targets families, schools, and communities, with attention to early warning and close local monitoring. Second, suppression brings together forces from all 18 districts to crack down on crime at the same time.
This includes sealing the borders and carrying out detailed re-checks in inland areas. Third, treatment and rehabilitation support people who use drugs by opening recovery camps in every district, so they can enter care and stably return to society.
With this operation now underway, Chiang Rai is pushing for direct action, tighter coordination, and faster results. The province wants each district to play its part so the anti-drug effort reaches border points, neighborhood communities, and treatment centers at the same time.
