BANGKOK – Police have disrupted a major illicit drug operation hidden inside a quiet neighborhood. Police officers raided a large, secret warehouse used for growing premium organic cannabis and extracting high-grade marijuana concentrates without a legal license.
The raid took place in the Bang Bon district of Bangkok. It highlights growing concerns over underground drug syndicates using local Thai front companies to mask illicit activities. The operation ended with multiple arrests and the seizure of expensive laboratory equipment.
On May 27, 2026, a joint task force launched a surprise raid on a hidden facility located in Soi Bang Bon 4, Intersection 6, within the Bang Bon Nuea sub-district.
The successful operation was directed by senior law enforcement officials from the Metropolitan Police Bureau and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of Thailand. Local officers from the Bang Bon Police Station led the physical entry into the building.
For weeks, investigators tracked suspicious activities around the facility. The warehouse operated behind the scenes under the guise of a legitimate local company. However, investigators discovered that this corporate setup was merely a front.
Foreign operators used Thai nationals as nominees to hide their illegal manufacturing plant and bypass strict local regulations.

Seven Vietnamese Workers Arrested in Marijuana Factory
During the sweep, police surprised and arrested seven workers inside the facility. According to the Thairath Online, all seven suspects are Vietnamese nationals. Authorities identified the individuals as:
- Mr. Nguyen Doan Trinh, 31
- Mr. Tran Ngoc Phong, 52
- Mr. Ho Ngoc Bang, 47
- Mr. Nguyen Huu Son, 45
- Mr. Nguyen Dinh Sang, 32
- Mr. Viet Huy Luong, 38
- Mr. Binh Duong Dang, 46
According to official police statements, four of these workers had entered or were working in the country completely outside legal channels, having no valid work permits. During initial interrogations, all seven suspects confessed to their involvement in the manufacturing process.

High-Tech Drug Lab Equipment Confiscated
Inside the warehouse, officers did not just find plants; they discovered a sophisticated, commercial-grade drug processing laboratory. The suspects used advanced machinery to process raw cannabis into high-potency extracts, specifically hashish and rosin.
The police confiscated a large amount of specialized equipment used for processing narcotics, including:
- Two industrial Lanphan freeze dryers
- Three large commercial freezers
- One hydraulic rosin press and one heat roller machine
- A specialized powder sifting machine
- An industrial mixer is typically used for blending heavy materials
- Digital weighing scales and heavy-duty hydraulic pressing platforms
- Large plastic processing tubs and professional sifting tray sets
Alongside the machinery, officers seized 30 plastic bags filled with a dark, dense cannabis concentrate known as hashish. The total weight of the confiscated drugs reached 15.874 kilograms.

Police Freeze Millions in Assets
Following the initial arrests, the Superintendent of the Bang Bon Police Station ordered an immediate expansion of the investigation. Financial investigators are tracking the money trail to identify the true owners and financial backers of the illegal operation.
Under Thailand’s strict anti-money laundering and narcotics laws, authorities immediately froze and seized assets found at the scene. These assets are suspected to be directly linked to or funded by drug profits. The seized property includes:
- An Isuzu MU-X SUV valued at approximately 1,600,000 Baht
- 60,000 Baht in cash
- Seven smartphones used for communication, valued at roughly 200,000 Baht
The total value of the frozen assets stands at an estimated 1,860,000 Baht.
Serious Legal Charges and Next Steps
The legal landscape surrounding cannabis in Thailand requires strict licensing for cultivation, extraction, and processing. Because the operation lacked any legal permits from the Thai Food and Drug Administration, the legal consequences are severe.
The suspects face heavy legal charges, including:
- Illegal Narcotics Production: Collaborating to manufacture Category 5 narcotics (cannabis extracts) without an official government license.
- Labor Violations: Employing foreign workers without legal permits, alongside specific immigration charges for the undocumented workers.
The Bang Bon police have transferred all seven suspects and the seized items to investigative processing units. Law enforcement plans to look deeper into the Thai nominees who allowed their names to be used for the illegal business facade. Officials emphasize that they will continue to clean up the district by targeting underground factories that violate national health and labor laws.
