TAK, Province – A bitter argument over social media fame ended in extreme violence on the morning of April 30, 2026. A married couple from Myanmar was found dead inside their home in Phop Phra District, Tak Province, Thailand.
Police believe the husband grew fiercely jealous of his wife’s online popularity and demanded she delete her accounts. When she refused, a physical fight broke out. The wife reportedly stabbed her husband in self-defense, but he managed to strike her neck with a heavy machete before dying. Ultimately, both succumbed to their severe injuries at the scene.
The shocking event took place in Village No. 1, Ban Chong Khaep, a quiet community near the Thai-Myanmar border. Pol. Col. Anusorn Dankong, the chief of the Phop Phra Police Station, rushed to the area with a team of investigators after receiving an emergency call.
When officers entered the modest home, they discovered a terrible scene in the kitchen. They found the bodies of the couple, who had lived and worked as farm laborers in the area for years.

Here are the key details from the crime scene:
- The Victim: Nu Nu Wai, a 31-year-old Myanmar woman, lay face down in a large pool of blood. She wore a blue shirt and a traditional red Myanmar skirt. She suffered a massive fatal wound to her neck.
- The Attacker: Saw Lay, her 41-year-old husband, was found dead just a few feet away. He wore a yellow shirt and a dark sarong. He had seven deep stab wounds in his chest and had lost a massive amount of blood.
Investigators searched the room and found a heavy, blood-stained machete lying near the wife’s body. This weapon was over a foot long. Interestingly, the police could not find the smaller, sharp knife used to stab the husband. Officers carefully collected all the evidence from the room. Afterward, they sent both bodies to Phop Phra Hospital for a complete medical examination.
Neighbors and close friends were stunned by the sudden violence. They spoke to the police through a local translator, shedding light on the couple’s troubled history.
How the Tragedy of the Married Couple Unfolded
According to these witnesses, Nu Nu Wai was an attractive woman who enjoyed using social media. Over time, she built a large group of online followers. This online attention made her husband extremely insecure. Saw Lay was constantly worried that other men were flirting with his wife on the internet.
Because of this fear, he repeatedly ordered her to stop using her phone and to quit all social platforms. Friends noted that the couple had argued fiercely about this specific issue for weeks leading up to the tragedy.
On the morning of the incident, police suspect Saw Lay had confronted his wife one final time. He likely demanded that she delete all her pictures and online posts immediately. Nu Nu Wai likely refused his demands, which caused him to fly into a rage.
Based on the evidence in the room, investigators pieced together a tragic timeline. First, the verbal fight turned into a physical attack. Next, Nu Nu Wai grabbed a sharp knife to defend herself and tried to run out of the house. During the struggle, she stabbed Saw Lay several times in the chest.
However, she could not escape in time. Despite his fatal wounds, Saw Lay grabbed the large machete and struck his wife from behind. The heavy blow instantly stopped her escape. In the end, both husband and wife collapsed on the kitchen floor and died side by side.
