MUMBAI – Rocking Star Yash marked his 40th birthday with a surprise that lit up social media, the much-awaited teaser for Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. Released on 8 January, the nearly three-minute teaser introduces Yash as the fearsome Raya. It hints at a hard-hitting gangster action film and signals his return after the huge success of KGF: Chapter 2.
Yash (born Naveen Kumar Gowda) has a habit of turning birthdays into big moments, and this year followed the same pattern. The teaser arrived at exactly 10:10 AM with the line, “Get a good look at your danger, Introducing Rocking Star Yash as RAYA.” Fans, who have been watching closely since the film was announced, quickly pushed hashtags like #DaddyIsHome and #ToxicTeaser into worldwide trends.
Before the drop, Yash shared a short, warm message. He thanked people for their patience and hinted that the next meet-up would be “much bigger”. He also skipped the usual birthday fan events, choosing instead to stay focused on filming, which only added to the buzz.

What the Teaser Shows: Smoke, Style, and Sudden Violence
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is pitched as a period gangster action thriller set in 1990s Goa, built around drugs, crime, and payback. The teaser starts in a graveyard during a tense funeral. Rival gang members stand ready, waiting for trouble. Nearby, a vintage car moves in a way that suggests something intimate is happening inside. Seconds later, the calm shatters as a huge blast tears through the scene.
Raya makes his entrance through the smoke. Yash appears with a cigar, shirtless, tattooed, and draped in a long black coat. He carries a Thompson submachine gun like it’s second nature. The teaser moves through slow-motion gunfire, burning bodies, and frantic chaos, building up to his punchline, “Daddy’s home.” There’s also a hint of romance and a strong female presence, matching the film’s promise of an adult, no-holds-barred tone.
The teaser looks polished and big in scale. VFX comes from DNEG, with cinematography by Rajeev Ravi and music by Ravi Basrur. Action is choreographed by international names, including J.J. Perry, setting expectations for sharp, high-impact set pieces.

Cast, Crew, and a Multi-Language Release Plan
Toxic brings together a pan-Indian cast, with Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth in key roles. The film is backed by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, and it’s co-written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas.
It’s being shot in Kannada and English at the same time, with plans to release in multiple languages. The goal is clear: reach audiences in India and overseas with the same film experience.
Geetu Mohandas is known for films like Moothon, and her name has also sparked discussion. Some viewers are curious to see how her style fits a loud, mass-leaning gangster drama, especially after the teaser’s raw energy.

Toxic: Yash’s First Intimate Scene Goes Viral
Reactions landed fast. Alia Bhatt called it “Dynamite” on Instagram. Karan Johar and Sandeep Reddy Vanga praised the visuals, calling them a “knockout”. Ram Gopal Varma also commented, saying no male director would shoot it with that level of boldness, and he credited Geetu Mohandas for going there.
Fans labelled it “pure mass” and compared the look to Hollywood action films. View counts climbed quickly, with the YouTube teaser said to have crossed 45 million within hours. Posts and edits flooded timelines, and loud fan slogans took over trending pages.
Not everyone loved the adult tone, though. A section of viewers felt some moments were too provocative, which has split opinion on what the film’s “grown-ups” fairy tale is trying to be.
Toxic is set for a worldwide release on 19 March 2026, landing around holidays like Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, and Eid. That date also puts it in direct competition with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2, directed by Aditya Dhar. Early online chatter leans towards Yash’s pull with mass audiences, but a clash like this can swing either way.
With this darker, tougher character, Yash steps into his 40s in a new mode. If the teaser is anything to go by, Raya’s story is built for noise, style, and destruction on a grand scale.
