SONGKHLA – Police in Southern Thailand have stepped up efforts to track down the person who allegedly poured fuel on “Molly,” a 2-year-old female Siberian Husky, and set her on fire.
Officers searched a suspected home, collected evidence, and reported finding fuel stains and a fuel container. Meanwhile, the reward for information has climbed to 87,000 baht.
The case has shocked animal lovers across social media. Molly suffered severe burns after the attack in the area covered by Songkhla City Police Station. Despite treatment and close attention from her owner and supporters online, she later passed away peacefully.
Police Search operation and evidence collection
On the afternoon of February 21, 2026, a team led by Lt. Gen. Piyawat Chaloemsri, Commander of Provincial Police Region 9, joined senior officers from Songkhla Provincial Police and Songkhla City Police Station.
Officers from five units took part, including regional and local investigation teams, the Forensic Science Center 9, and the Crime Suppression Division.
With a search warrant, officers entered a house in Village 8, Phawong Subdistrict, Mueang Songkhla District. Investigators considered it one of the locations linked to the case and focused on collecting physical evidence.
Investigators said they found signs of fuel on the ground in front of the house. They also reported locating a fuel container on the property. In addition, officers noted a strong fuel odor inside the home.
Forensic staff collected all related items for testing and also took a DNA sample from the homeowner. Authorities are waiting for results to determine whether any evidence connects to Molly’s burning.
Investigators have already interviewed more than 10 residents. Even so, police said no one has admitted to the attack.
Lt. Gen. Piyawat said he instructed all units to gather evidence carefully and in detail. The goal, he added, is to confirm the suspect’s identity and move the case forward as quickly as possible.
