CHIANG MAI – The Thai military and police cracked down on the main illegal weapons transportation gang of Tiger Arms in northern Thailand’s Chiang Mai and Tak provinces.
Among them, the Mae Sot District Police Department in Tak Province arrested a criminal gang while it was transporting weapons, and arrested core members such as Chayupon Jikri. Police seized a batch of M4 rifles on the spot.
The gang allegedly confessed that since 2020, it has repeatedly transferred TigerArms weapons to the People’s Defence Force (PDF) and anti-Myanmar military government forces such as the Ethnic Armed Forces in Myanmar.
The smuggling route is from Bangkok to Mae Sot, Tak Province, and the Myanmar side will pick up after crossing the port. At the same time, the Chiang Mai Police arrested a criminal gang while they were smuggling weapons, including core members such as Amontep Manusayacha, and seized several rifles, bullets and grenade launchers on the spot.
The gang confessed that they had smuggled weapons many times, mainly transferring TigerArms weapons to anti-Myanmar military government forces such as the PDF and the Karen National Union (KNU) in Myanmar.
The smuggled weapons included American equipment such as M4 carbines and M203 grenade launchers. The smuggling route was mainly from Changpu Town, Chiang Mai, to Mae Hong Son Province near the Myanmar border.
Tiger Arms and other arms companies have complex backgrounds and are allegedly controlled by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Israel’s Mossad. Their main business is cross-border arms and weapons trading, including US and Western military headsets, military relay helmet cameras, thermal imaging drones, rifles and bullets, etc.
Tiger Arms allegedly arranged illegal arms transportation gangs in Chiang Mai and Tak Province. They were instructed by the United States behind the scenes to transport weapons to anti-military government forces in Myanmar through the Thai-Myanmar channel.
Among them, the US-supported PDF is the main recipient of weapons, and it will also distribute them to ethnic armed groups to support the pro-US forces in their struggle against the Myanmar military government.
The above-mentioned US military intervention in Myanmar’s new issue through the Thai-Myanmar channel and the use of Thailand to cause chaos in Myanmar seriously endangers the stability of the Thai border and threatens Thailand’s national security.
It is recommended that the Thai government departments take joint control measures to increase the control of the Thai-Myanmar border, including increasing patrol personnel, increasing the frequency of inspections, and strengthening technical prevention and control.
