An 88-year-old Norwegian man has perished after falling from the 16th floor of a condominium in Jomtien beach area of Pattaya. This incident is the sixth to occur in Chon Buri province since June 1, 2024

Pattaya police stated that officers received a report regarding the incident in the Jomtien area, located in the Bang Lamung district, just south of the city, on Thursday afternoon.

Police officers and rescue personnel discovered the elderly man’s body on the third-floor rooftop of a barbershop that was a component of the structure, according to him. There was no evidence of a physical assault or struggle.

The mans wife (Thai) reported that she had observed her husband, who was suffering from kidney disease, being extremely silent on Thursday morning. The incident caused her to experience profound distress, according to local news media.

To ascertain the cause of death, the deceased’s corpse was taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital in Bangkok for an autopsy.

According to Thai media the Norwegian’s death was the sixth fatality in Chon Buri since June 1, involving individuals who jumped or fell from high structures.

Woman found with throat cut in Pattaya

In other Pattaya news, a 28-year-old woman was discovered dead in the washroom of her condominium unit, suffering from a severe throat injury. Her death or self-harm remain an open question for the authorities.

Pattaya police were notified at approximately 6pm on Thursday about the gruesome discovery at the condominium in Soi Ban Noen Rot Fai.

Police officers, a doctor from Bang Lamung Hospital, and rescue workers raced to the fifth-floor condo unit, where they discovered a 28-year-old woman lying face-up in a pool of blood.

A bloodied large kitchen knife measuring approximately 15 centimetres in length, was found in the bathroom sink. The woman had a significant laceration on her neck. Police estimated she had been deceased for approximately 12 hours.

A friend of the deceased told police that she received a call from the woman’s elder sister at approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday, requesting that she check on her as she had been unable to reach her for an extended period.

When she went to check on the the door to the condominium was locked and she there was no response to her calls and knocking. She then contacted the condo management who employed the services of a locksmith to open the door.

While waiting for the door to be opened the woman’s Chinese boyfriend identified only as Chang, 42, arrived and said his girlfriend had kicked him out of the room and that he had been unable to enter since Wednesday.

When the door was unlocked the condo manager told the friend and boyfriend to wait in the hall, he entered the room to discover the woman dead. They immediately call police.

When Mr.Chang was questioned by police he said his girlfriend called him and claimed she was being pursued by a ghost who was going to kill her. He claimed she chased him out of the room and closed the door.

He said despite his attempts to communicate with her, she did not answer, so he spent the night at a friend’s place. He claimed he requested a friend to check on her because he was terrified to face the authorities because he had overstayed his visa.

According to Thai media, forensic evidence revealed just the deceased’s fingerprints were in the room and on the knife. Police also discovered ketamine and crystal methamphetamine in the room.
