Thailand’s Immigration police have detained a 27-year-old man from India on suspicion of committing a series of crimes in his country, including homicide and abduction.
Pol Maj Gen Phanthana Nutchanart, the deputy superintendent of the Immigration Bureau, told Thai Media that Mr. Parveen Kumar was wanted on an Interpol Red Warrant in connection with 13 criminal cases in India and had fled to Thailand on Friday.
He was detained at a restaurant in Phra Nakhon district of Bangkok on Saturday.
Pol Maj Gen Phanthana said Immigration officers arrested in response to a tip-off from India’s Armed Forces Security Centre that Mr Parveen had fled to Thailand. The police intervened after the Indian embassy in Bangkok requested their assistance.
He said the Indian Embassy informed them that the man was a dangerous individual who was sought for 13 criminal cases, including murder, attempted murder, robbery, abduction, and weapons offenses.
