CHIANG RAI –  Mae Saui has officially opened its summer fun season with the community tourism event “Wet Rafting on the Mae Suai River” for 2026. On the morning of March 1, 2026, the wet-rafting launch point at Mae Suai Dam (Mae Suai District, Chiang Rai) was busy early, as visitors arrived throughout the day under the theme “The wetter, the more fun.”

The opening ceremony welcomed key local leaders, including Prasert Jitpleecheep, Deputy Governor of Chiang Rai, and Athitathon Wanchai Thanawong, President of the Chiang Rai Provincial Administrative Organization. Government officials, local leaders, and residents also joined the event.

According to Pradit Suwan, President of the Mae Suai Wet Rafting Group, the activity draws crowds every year thanks to the area’s strong natural appeal around Wiang Suai Subdistrict Municipality. Nearby attractions include Tham Mae Suai Cave, Mae Suai Dam, the Mae Suai River, and the Mae Lao River, which still feel green and well-suited for community-based travel.

Over the past few years, wet rafting, along with riverside food stalls, shops, and service booths, has helped circulate income within the community. As a result, “Mae Suai Wet Rafting” has become one of Chiang Rai’s popular summer activities.

This year’s event comes from joint efforts across Mae Suai District, wet-rafting operators, Wiang Suai Subdistrict Municipality, the subdistrict headmen and village heads club, the Regional Harbor Office (Chiang Rai Branch), and the Mae Lao Irrigation Operation and Maintenance Project. The season runs from February 14 to May 15, 2026.

Chiang Rai invites both locals and travelers from nearby provinces to enjoy a refreshing nature experience and friendly community vibes in Mae Suai. For updates and details throughout the season, check the public relations channels of Mae Suai District and related agencies.
