Central Chiang Rai, together with its partners, is hosting the “Sisan Kasalong Festival 5” at Central Chiang Rai from now until 31 January 2026. The event runs under the concept “The Magic of Chiang Rai” and supports both the local economy and tourism, in line with Chiang Rai’s status as a UNESCO “City of Design”.
Here are 5 must-see highlights at the festival.
1) The Thousand-Mist Christmas Tree
Central Chiang Rai has teamed up with “Doi Tung” to create a one-of-a-kind craft installation in Thailand.
The main feature is a 15-metre bamboo Christmas tree, surrounded by six more trees, all designed under “The Magic of Chiang Rai” concept.
The design reflects the charm of Lanna culture and the identity of the four long-standing hill tribes. Natural-dyed woven bamboo, local beads, ornaments, and handmade crafts come together in one striking piece.
Coloured LED lights add sparkle to the structure and bring warmth and pride to both locals and visitors.
2) Colorful Kasalong Night Market
The สีสันกาสะลอง Night Market is the place to go if you love food.
Enjoy special dishes made from local natural ingredients and try rare recipes passed down through hill tribe communities. There are also classic Lanna dishes with an authentic northern taste, ideal for anyone who wants real Chiang Rai flavours.
3) The Magic Stage
The Magic Stage showcases art, music, and culture throughout the festival.
Watch traditional performances that highlight Lanna heritage and the unique cultures of Chiang Rai’s hill tribes. Street music, busking, and folk bands perform over 120 shows in total, so there is always something happening.
There is also a special moment for music lovers, with the return of veteran band THE COTTAGE in a mini concert, bringing nostalgic songs and a cosy year-end mood to their fans (17 December 2025).
4) The Magical Stars
Meet world-famous characters from Disney, who appear at the festival to add fun and colour.
They help bring stories from imagination to life, making the event even more enjoyable for children and adults throughout the season.
5) KIDS DAY 2026
Celebrate National Children’s Day with “MERMAIDVERSE The Future Skills In the Ocean”.
Kids can dive into a playful underwater-themed learning world that mixes future skills with hands-on fun. The activities encourage curiosity, creativity, and free imagination in a bright, child-friendly setting.
