(CTN News) – Ford has opted to recall 312,120 vehicles in the United States due to a defect in the brake assist system. This defect increases the likelihood of an accident and may extend the time required to stop.
Specific 2025 Lincoln Navigator, F-150, Expedition, Bronco, and Ranger models have been subjected to a recall due to the potential for an Electronic Braking Booster malfunction.
This issue may result in the absence of power braking assistance while the vehicle is in motion or when the Advanced Driver Assistance System is activated.
Its high voltage fluctuation sensitivity is the primary cause of the issue.
A voltage decrease followed by a recovery may result in a surge in current that exceeds the system’s limits and causes the motor to be turned off. This is what will happen if the voltage decreases and then rises again.
This may lead to the activation of audio alarms, warning lighting, and messages displayed in the instrument cluster. Furthermore, the motorist may perceive an alteration in the brake pedal’s sensation.
As of July 11th, Ford was aware that this issue could have led to 37 warranty claims and one low-speed collision. Additionally, Ford was cognizant of one such collision. On the other hand, no reports of fires or casualties were considered. Neither of these events transpired.
In 2025, a variety of popular models were manufactured for these vehicles. These are a few of the vehicles that are currently under investigation.
The recall encompasses the following products:
Two hundred and seventeen thousand Ford F-150s were produced.
At present, there are 20,552 Ford Ranger vehicles present on the road.
The fabrication of 39,913 Ford Broncos was the outcome of the manufacturing process.
The total number of Ford Expeditions in circulation was 26,582.
At that time, there were 7,414 Lincoln Navigators in operation.
The solution is a complimentary software update for the EBB module, which is accessible through dealers or over the air for Ford and Lincoln vehicles.
This update is available for distribution from any location. An upgrade is accessible for Ford and Lincoln vehicles. Owner notice letters are anticipated to be dispatched between August 25 and August 29. It is anticipated that over-the-air (OTA) enhancements will commence in August. It is anticipated that both of these events will occur.
Robert Bosch LLC was responsible for the delivery of the component that was impacted by the defect. The affected vehicle identifying numbers (VINs) will be searchable beginning on July 28 of this year.
In July, Ford also issued a recall of approximately 694,000 vehicles as a result of the potential for fuel injector fractures in specific models.
Fortunately, Ford took steps to prevent gasoline leaks and engine fires.
A limited number of Bronco Sport and Escape vehicles are affected by the recall. These vehicles were produced in 2020, 2022, and 2021, accordingly.
Ford has issued more recalls this year than any other automaker has ever done in a single calendar year, according to the data and figures provided by The Wall Street Journal. This particular recall is the most numerous that Ford has ever issued.
The company ascribes the high number to the continuous investigations and follow-ups on previous software-based recalls. As a result, the company’s proactive efforts to resolve safety concerns are evident in the high number.
Ford has enhanced the quality of its vehicles by employing a more than twofold increase in the number of safety specialists.
As of the conclusion of June, the automaker informed customers of 88 distinct safety recalls that affected their vehicles. One of these was a recent recall that affected 850,000 pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles (SUVs) as a result of the potential for a fuel pump failure.
