BANGKOK – The Michelin Guide Thailand 2026 is out, and it puts a bright spotlight on how fast the country’s culinary landscape keeps growing. Announced on November 27, 2025, at a ceremony at The Ritz-Carlton, Bangkok, the ninth edition, marking nine years of the guide in Thailand, brings a major first for the country.

Thailand now has two Three-MICHELIN-Star restaurants at the same time, a landmark moment for dining in the region.

From street-inspired icons to fine dining with polished tasting menus, the guide shows a wider range of styles than ever in Thai cuisine. As a result, diners get more choices at every budget, without losing focus on quality.

Historic Milestone: Two Restaurants Earn Three MICHELIN Stars

Thailand hits a new peak in 2026 with Sühring in Bangkok moving up to Three MICHELIN Stars. That promotion makes it only the second restaurant in the country to reach the top rating. At the same time, Sorn holds on to its Three MICHELIN Stars, keeping its place at the highest level.

Together, the pair highlights two different strengths. Sühring brings Thai-German influences into a fine-dining tasting menu, while it keeps its attention on Southern Thai cuisine and regional identity.

Michelin inspectors pointed to Sühring’s tight execution and thoughtful mix of German tradition with local ingredients, describing the experience as refined comfort done with precision. Meanwhile, it continues to impress through deep respect for local heritage and a strong commitment to ingredients tied to place.

Just as important, no restaurants lost stars this year. That steady result suggests consistent standards across the guide’s top tier.

Two MICHELIN Stars: New Promotions and a Bigger List

The Two MICHELIN Stars category grows to eight fine dining restaurants in the 2026 guide, thanks in part to two upgrades from the One-Star level. Anne-Sophie Pic at Le Normandie (Bangkok) and INDDEE (Bangkok) both move up, joining a group that already had strong momentum.

Other Two-Star restaurants include:

  • Gaa (Bangkok), known for modern Indian and Thai influences
  • Côte by Mauro Colagreco (Bangkok), a French-leaning menu with a strong focus on ingredients
  • Mezzaluna (Bangkok), pairing a polished experience with high-rise views and Italian-Thai touches
  • R.Haan (Bangkok), offering modern takes on royal Thai cooking

These results show a clear pattern. Chefs keep trying new ideas, yet they stay grounded in Thai cuisine tradition. In particular, Michelin highlighted Inddee for bold flavors and a creative point of view.

One MICHELIN Star: 33 Picks, Including Seven Newcomers

The One MICHELIN Star list rises to 33 restaurants. It includes seven new additions, plus four places that moved up from the MICHELIN Selected category. Bangkok still takes the lead, but the guide also signals stronger dining beyond the capital.

Some of the new One-Star entries include:

  • Gaggan (Bangkok), marking the return of its progressive Indian approach
  • Nusara (Bangkok), helmed by Chef Ton for contemporary Thai excellence
  • Bo.lan (Bangkok), focused on sustainability and Thai fine dining
  • Cannubi by Umberto Bombana (Bangkok), a refined Italian option
  • Juksunchae (Bangkok), showcasing innovative Korean flavors
  • Sushi Saito (Bangkok), known for precise Japanese technique

The broader One-Star mix, based on official announcements, also features names such as:

  • 80/20 (Bangkok)
  • Aksorn (Bangkok) is also tied to a major special award for Chef David Thompson.
  • AVANT (Bangkok)
  • Coda (Bangkok)
  • Jay Fai (Bangkok), the famous street food spot that still holds its star

Beyond Bangkok, places like Phuket and other provinces earned stronger attention this year. Inspectors pointed to rising quality outside the city, which makes the guide more useful for travelers planning food-focused trips.

Bib Gourmand: Great Meals at Friendlier Prices

Stars get the headlines, but the Bib Gourmand list (Michelin’s pick for great food at moderate prices, under 1,000 baht for a three-course meal) often helps diners the most. The Michelin Guide Thailand 2026, it includes 137 venues, with 13 newcomers. Because of that price point, this section connects casual restaurants, family-run kitchens, and street food with Michelin’s stamp of approval, supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

New picks include:

  • Nub
  • Pad Thai Bua Dang
  • Krachang (Khao Lak)

Bangkok leads with 44 entries. After that, Chiang Mai and Phuket show strong depth, along with other areas that keep gaining attention. Many of these spots stay popular for a simple reason: they serve bold, familiar flavors without the formality.

Special Awards and What Stood Out This Year

The 2026 edition also adds fresh recognition, including a new award focused on chefs who guide and support younger talent. Aksorn’s Chef David Thompson received the Mentor Chef Award. Other honors continued to spotlight rising chefs via the Young Chef Award, sommeliers, and impressive openings, including the opening of the year for Margo (a French newcomer listed under MICHELIN Selected).

Several patterns also come through in this year’s results. Sustainability shows up more often, with more MICHELIN Green Star distinctions celebrating sustainable gastronomy, and regional Thai ingredients get more attention on high-end menus.

As Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides, observed, “This edition underscores a deeper commitment to environmental consciousness across the region.” Cross-cultural cooking also remains a theme, with Korean and German influences appearing more prominently. In addition, Phuket continues to build momentum. Finally, the lack of demotions reinforces the sense that top restaurants held their standards.

Bangkok and Beyond: Where Thailand’s Best Meals Are in 2026

Bangkok remains the center of Thailand’s Michelin scene, with most starred restaurants based in the city. Diners can move from elegant tasting menus to open-flame street cooking on the same day. Jay Fai, for example, keeps its legendary status through wok skill and signature dishes like the crab omelette.

Outside the capital, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and southern provinces keep gaining ground through rising star power. Those areas highlight how varied Thai food can be, from spicy Southern curries to herb-driven Northern cooking featuring local ingredients and fresh coastal seafood.

Whether someone wants a once-in-a-lifetime Three-Star meal or a low-key Bib Gourmand favorite, the restaurant selection shows a scene with more range than ever. For the full official list, Michelin directs diners to the Michelin Guide website or app. Reservations matter, since many restaurants book out months in advance.

The Michelin Guide Thailand 2026 strengthens Thailand’s culinary landscape as a global dining destination, with winners that reflect both tradition and fresh ideas, from street stalls to formal tasting rooms.
