CHIANG RAI – The Chiang Rai Provincial Tourism and Sports Office recently held a Media FamTrip to introduce a local travel route called “เยือนศิลป์ ถิ่นสายชิลล์” (Art & Lifestyle Journey). The trip took place from January 5 to 6, 2026, under the Life Artists project, which focuses on art-based livelihoods that support sustainable tourism.

This Route 3 itinerary connects the Chiang Rai Life Artist Studio for Tourism network with key art spaces across Chiang Rai. The goal is simple: help more people discover local creators, encourage travel to the area, and support the creative economy in the province.

As part of the program, the Chiang Rai Tourism and Sports Office assigned a project lead to welcome participants and explain the plan for the trip. The activity highlighted how community skills can evolve into respected art careers, while also increasing the value of local products and attracting more spending to Chiang Rai through cultural tourism.

Route highlights: “เยือนศิลป์ ถิ่นสายชิลล์” (Art & Lifestyle Journey)

Daynin (เดนิน), Phan District, Chiang Rai

Stop 1: Daynin (เดนิน), Phan District, Chiang Rai

Daynin started from a love of handmade work and thoughtful design. The pieces take inspiration from nature and the surroundings, using local materials and creative ideas to form unique shapes, textures, clay colors, and glazes. Each work stands out with its own identity and careful finish.

ไม้หมอนฟาร์ม, Phan District, Chiang Rai

Stop 2: ไม้หมอนฟาร์ม, Phan District, Chiang Rai

Maimorn Farms showcases a shared space for artists from Phan District. Each piece reflects local character in its own way. The location also puts a strong focus on introducing art to young people in the community, including kids who are interested in learning and creating.

Sahasawat Art Area (สหัสวัต ปิติสิริอนันต์), Phan District, Chiang Rai

Stop 3: Sahasawat Art Area (สหัสวัต ปิติสิริอนันต์), Phan District, Chiang Rai

Sahasawat is known for sculpture work and three-dimensional pieces. One well-remembered project was a statue connected to the Tham Luang rescue story in Chiang Rai, including “จ่าแซม” and the 13 boys.

The artist has also received opportunities through Ajarn Chalermchai, including leading a team and continuing work under his support. More recently, he sculpted a three-headed elephant for the Football Association of Thailand under the Patronage of His Majesty the King. For him, sculpture stands apart because it’s physical, three-dimensional, and can communicate meaning in many ways.

บ้านศิลปะทนงศักดิ์

Stop 4: บ้านศิลป์ ทนงศักดิ์, Mae Lao District, Chiang Rai

This warm, welcoming art home features paintings that present Thai identity through detailed lines and rich color. The collection reflects culture, daily life, and Thai beauty in a way that feels both traditional and current. Visitors toured the gallery with the artist, Khun Thanongsak Pakwan, and experienced Thai-style artwork up close in a friendly setting.

Gumpor Art Studio

Stop 5: Gumpor Art Studio, Mae Lao District, Chiang Rai

The final stop was Gumpor Art Studio, a café and art studio in Mae Lao District. Visitors explored the works and joined a hands-on workshop, painting patterns on containers. The space highlights contemporary art by local artists, with work that shares perspectives on life, society, and nature through painting and sculpture. Gumpor Art Studio also offers accommodations and an on-site restaurant for guests.
