iPhone 17 Pro

Apple is all set to unveil the next generation of iPhones in September 2025, and if rumours are to be believed, the iPhone 17 series is going to revolutionise the smartphone industry.

The iPhone 17 handsets will build on the changes introduced by the iPhone 16 series, and the mid-spec variant, the iPhone 17 Pro, is tipped to be the show-stealer upon its launch. Another significant change announced by Apple is that the iPhone 17 Plus will be replaced by iPhone 17 Air, with ‘Air’ models replacing the ‘Plus’ line going forward.

The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to feature ProMotion display tech with a 120Hz refresh rate, guaranteeing smooth scrolling and video playback. This model will also run on the cutting-edge A19 Pro chip, the next-gen processor designed by Apple to handle the most demanding tasks with relative ease. Once the smartphone is launched in India, you can shop for it on Easy EMIs by visiting a Bajaj Finserv partner store.

iPhone 17 Pro – Expected launch date and pricing

Over the years, Apple has maintained a predictable pricing strategy for new launches. However, this year, things are expected to be a little different. Import duties and regional taxes are expected to increase the costs, while Apple is also toying around with the idea of a fresh design language for its models. The iPhone 17 Pro’s price, for instance, can be around Rs. 1,29,900—a little more than its predecessor for the 128GB variant.

As previously mentioned, the handset is likely to be unveiled, along with the rest of the iPhone 17 models, in September 2025. Typically, Apple schedules its events during the second week of September to launch the next generation of iPhones, and this year isn’t expected to be any different.

iPhone 17 Pro – Key changes and features

Better performance

Each new generation of iPhones lives up to the promise of enhanced performance metrics. The iPhone 17 Pro continues this tradition, with the new A19 Pro chip powering the Pro and Pro Max models. This processor will be faster than its predecessor and will also improve the capabilities of Apple Intelligence.

The chip will likely be designed using TSMC’s 3 nm process technology, and leaked Geekbench scores show that this chip has higher scores in single-core and multi-core categories than the Snapdragon 8 Elite!

According to rumours, Apple will also upgrade the RAM in the Pro and Pro Max variants, from 8GB found in iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max to 12GB. This will inevitably result in snappier performance, making multitasking, editing, and gaming an absolute delight.

Improved design language

While the change from iPhone 17 Plus to iPhone 17 Air tells us that this particular variant will be slimmer and lighter than the previous Plus variants, even the Pro and Pro Max models might get design upgrades. In particular, the camera island will reportedly get a revamp; various leaked prototypes of the 17 Pro suggest that the company will opt for a rectangular module with rounded corners, ditching the existing ‘squircle’-shaped camera bump.

The iPhone 17 Pro, along with the other models in the iPhone 17 series, will also reportedly come with aluminium bodies, owing to the company’s environmental initiatives. As the production of aluminium typically results in a smaller carbon footprint compared to titanium, Apple has reportedly made the decision to shift back to aluminium frames. However, the iPhone 17 Air will likely sport a titanium-aluminium hybrid body.

Optimised cameras

If we go by rumours and leaks, the iPhone 17 Pro will get significant upgrades in the camera department as well. It will likely feature a 48MP telephoto rear camera, up from the 12MP lens found in its predecessor.

If this turns out to be true, then all three rear cameras—Fusion, ultra-wide, and telephoto—will boast 48MP! Thus, you can forget about DSLRs and other high-end cameras and rely on the sensors on the 17 Pro to click awe-inspiring images and high-res videos.

On the front, all the models in the iPhone 17 family will reportedly get an upgrade, housing a 24MP selfie camera instead of the conventional 12MP lens. Certain rumours also suggest that Apple will offer a built-in video feature, allowing users to record videos using rear and front cameras simultaneously!

Similar display to the iPhone 17?

Apple has reportedly decided to fit both the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro with similar displays—a 6.3-inch 120Hz OLED ProMotion display. While this means that the standard variant of the iPhone 17 series gets a larger display than its predecessor, the 17 Pro variant retains the 6.3-inch screen. This practical design eliminates any hassles that come with larger displays, while the high refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling and immersive visuals.

Verdict

An enhanced imaging system, improved performance, and a fresh design language make the iPhone 17 Pro arguably the most anticipated flagship of 2025. By using the same chipset and telephoto camera as the 17 Pro Max, the 17 Pro offers top-of-the-line specs at a reduced cost. The smartphone will also likely sport a larger battery compared to the iPhone 16 Pro, along with faster charging times, making it a must-buy for iPhone enthusiasts.

Buy the iPhone 17 Pro on Easy EMIs

Apple will likely increase the cost of the iPhone 17 models due to various factors, including the looming (and expected) 25% tariffs imposed on iPhones manufactured in India. This could mean that the iPhone 17 Pro can cost around Rs. 1,29,900 for the base variant, making it incredibly difficult to afford for the average consumer. However, you can buy the model on Easy EMIs by shopping on the Bajaj Finserv EMI Network, with tenures ranging from 1 to 60 months!

Once the iPhone 17 Pro is launched in India, you can visit your nearest Bajaj Finserv partner store and avail of exclusive deals and discounts. By paying for the new iPhone in nominal instalments, you can enjoy the performance brilliance and never-before-seen features of the iPhone without putting a dent in your savings.
