A first year student from Chiang Rai Rajabhat University is in hospital is serious condition after he was severely beaten by a group of fellow students riding in a group on motorcycles. The horrific attack occurred on the main road exiting the University.

CCTV footage show a group of students on motorcycles wearing orange school shirts surround another student on his motorcycle. Then the students get off their motorcycles and proceed to violently beat the young student before riding away.

According to the victims sister who posted a video the horrific assault on Facebook to help expose the perpetrators her brother had no affiliation with the group of thugs and it was a random attack.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Manop Senakul, Commander of Chiang Rai Provincial Police, has ordered Pol. Col. Ananjak Kanoknaphawat, Superintendent of Ban Du Police Station, to urgently track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice as soon as possible.

Currently, the investigation team of Ban Du Police Station has gone to the area to investigate and found out that there were about 5-6 perpetrators. They are in the process of collecting evidence. It is expected that an arrest warrant will be issued by August 31st.

Meanwhile, Chiang Rai Rajabhat University has issued an announcement regarding this case, stating the university, through the Student Development Division, coordinated with the students family and are making sure he receives the necessary treatment at Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital.

The university has assigned Asst. Prof. Dr. Nawin Promjaisa, Vice President, and Dr. Thirawat Wangmanee, Director of the Student Development Division, to coordinate with the students’ parents to file a complaint at Ban Du Police Station.

Pol. Col. Ananjak told Thai media that they have investigated and identified all suspects and are in the process of taking criminal action.

As for the students who were involved in the incident, the university, through the Legal Division, will take strict action in accordance with the student disciplinary regulations. They were also first-year students and will be expelled after legal proceedings.
