CHIANG RAI – The Meteorological Department reported that during September 3-6, a moderate storm will move down to cover the northern, central, and northeastern regions of Thailand, which will cause some areas in the North to have heavy rain.
People in Northern Thailand should be careful of the dangers of heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rain, which may cause flash floods and forest runoff. Especially in the hillside areas near waterways and lowlands.
Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office Region reports in the past 2-3 days, there has been no rain and there has been no increase in water volume in the upstream areas of both the Ngao River and the Lao River in Chiang Rai Province.
As for the Kwan Phayao side, which drains water into the Ing River at a rate of 7 million cubic meters per day, it is still considered normal and has not had much impact on the Ing River. The Ing River is dropping by about 10 cm per day.
In the lower part of the Ing River, including Amphoe Phayao Mengrai and Amphoe Khuntan, the water level has been continuously dropping, both in Tambon Mengrai, Tambon Mae Tam, Amphoe Phayao Mengrai and Tambon Ta and Tambon Pa Tan, Amphoe Khuntan.
However, the communities that were flooded are still flooded. It is expected that it will take no less than 1 month for the situation to return to normal. The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center, has brought in water pumps to urgently pump water out of flooded villages to alleviate the suffering of the villagers.
The water can be drained at a rate of 50,000 cubic meters per minute. After today, the district will stop accepting relief donations and will focus on cleaning and rehabilitating those affected according to government regulations.
Meanwhile, Phayao Province has resolved to increase the release of water from Kwan Lake from 7 million cubic meters per day to 12 million cubic meters per day. The water mass should arrive in Chiang Rai in another 1-2 days, which will increase the volume of the Ing River but will not have as severe an impact as in the past.
